Big Brother: The Summer Addiction Has Started

It is officially summer, which only means one thing: Big Brother. For those of you who know what I am talking about, I applaud you. For those of you who don't, get with it. Here is my personal recap of the first week.

As always, the first week is a little uneventful. We are meeting the houseguests, finding the first HOH and evicting someone who probably doesn't deserve to leave. The weak and the strong are found, alliances are made, and usually everything falls apart after a few more weeks.

When first meeting the houseguests, I thought it was a weird bunch. There are a few famous siblings however. Vanessa (from BB17) and Cody's (from BB16) siblings are competing this season, along with 10 other new players. However, always expect the unexpected. Four houseguests are prior contestants: Nicole, James, Frank, and Da'vonne. I don't know how I feel about these veterans, as they were not memorable to me. In past seasons, they have had Evil Dick, Danielle, Mike "Boogie", Jeff and Jordan come back to the show. To me, those are true veterans.

This season, they are all split into teams, with each having one veteran and three newbies. As always, teams that are created by Big Brother, are not always permanent. The vets have aligned together, and the newbies are sticking together. That means (hypothetically) it is 12 against 4. However, those 12 will self implode.

With the three competitions that ran during the two-night premier, the oldest of the crew was evicted. Glenn couldn't handle the physical nature of the competitions, but who really cared who left this week anyway?

Here is my opinion and predictions:

Nicole will get into a showmance with someone, along with the former NFL cheerleader. I think it is the worst decision for the 12 newbies to stick together because there are too many of them. They don't know how to stay calm and collected. They will start to stray from each other, throw everyone under the bus, and eventually try to get each other evicted.

There are a few people I don't like already, and I can't figure out why. Paul, Jozea and Bronte give me weird vibes. However, Mama Da', Zakiyah, James, and Paulie will be my favorites of the season.

Let's hope it is a season filled with drama, backstabs, and more drama. Remember, expect the unexpected.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
