I am obsessed with one of the most famous teen pop artists of all time: Justin Bieber. I began watching his YouTube videos when I was younger, and as he gradually became famous, my love for him grew as well. I memorized all his songs, went to a concert and bought so much Bieber merchandise! I also remember people making fun of me and calling me ridiculous because I loved him so much, but I shrugged it away and now I realize that people didn’t see the reason for so many young girls obsessing over him. So here’s an explanation.
Justin Bieber was not handed everything to him as a child. He was born to teenage parents that were separated and lived paycheck to paycheck. (For more details watch the Justin Bieber documentary) Justin grew up learning to make the most out of his life with what he had and what he was passionate about, which was music. He started playing the guitar and drums as a toddler, followed by piano and around his preteen years he began performing all around his little hometown. Justin started posting his performances and song covers on YouTube which soon got the attention of Scooter Braun, who eventually helped Justin become an international famous pop star! His fame didn’t happen overnight, it took sacrifices and long days to make his dream come true.
As he became more and more famous, his confidence grew and his fame got to his head. Don’t get me wrong, the mistakes he made were not justified and he deserved to be punished like anyone else would have been, but I don’t think it gives people the right to let his mistakes determine who he truly is. After all the mistakes he made, Justin realized how he was affecting himself and his fans. Soon he went through a recovery phase and came out with a new album and a 2016 tour.
So what does this mean? Well, the reason why we JB fans love him so much is because he signifies hope. Justin shows his fans that our dreams can come true no matter how big or unfeasible they seem -- as long as we are driven we can accomplish. Justin also shows us that we are human and are capable of making mistakes in life, but those mistakes don’t define us. His experiences prove to us that we can pick ourselves back up after a hard time and that our mistakes only make us stronger.
Love always,
Adyiam Bieber
