Ed Sheeran is a popular name in the music industry. In the past six years, he has taken the world by storm with the release of three albums, performances at multiple award shows, and offering fans a chance to see him live and in concert. His fanbase has grown rapidly in the process, as he is approaching almost nineteen million Twitter followers. So, what is it that makes him so popular among people of all ages? Here are ten reasons why Ed Sheeran is amazing..

1. Each of Ed's albums are named after math functions.

Ed has an inner nerd inside of him and he is not ashamed to admit that fact. As mentioned in interviews, Mathematics was his favorite subject in school and he showcases this with his albums: Plus, Multiply, and Divide.

2. He is humble in every sense of the word.

Upon watching Ed perform, the audience can see he has a good heart by his stage presence. He gets up there, sings his song, interacts with the fans, and then he's done. A ton of extra lights, sound effects, and extra stage activity isn't needed. All Ed needs is his guitar!

3. Ed is involved in projects that help those who are struggling, such as Red Nose Day.

Red Nose Day is a movement started by Walgreens to help end child poverty and Ed Sheeran was more than willing to be apart of their efforts. He teamed up with Kermit the Frog to sing a few songs and even met some of the children benefiting from the project. When asked how it impacted his life, Ed said he was moved to tears.

4. He doesn't own a cell phone.

Ed has said the constant calls and texts he was receiving was getting to be too much to handle. He recently threw his phone away and switched to communicating by email via an iPad. This was a bold move, one many of us probably wish we could do from time to time.

5. Each of Ed's songs have a purpose.

Whether listening to the beautiful ballad, "Give Me Love" or dancing along to "Shape of You," it is easy to hear why Ed's songs are so widely loved. The lyrics are unique, they stand out from many other artists' songs. He has often said that personal stories influence his creative process and it shows.

6. All of his guitars have a name.

Lloyd, Felix, Cyril, and Nigel. You're Welcome.

7. Ed rejects all forms of body shaming.

There's more to a person than their appearance, and Ed knows this to be true. He acknowledges that he was an awkward looking kid, but doesn't let that stop him now. There are also body positive lyrics to be found in his songs, such as "Nina" which sings 'And you don't even need to worry about your weight 'cause, we can all be loved the way that God made us.'

8. He has a lot of love for his fans.

Ed encourages his fans with every show he puts on, often times telling them to be real and to be themselves. In a time where individuals in the spotlight tend to say one thing and do another, it is refreshing to see an artist who is open and honest. What you see is what you get.

9. Ed isn't afraid to admit that he has had struggles.

In his song "Eraser" Ed gets real about his struggles with depression, despite his fame. The message of the media expecting people in the industry to be happy all the time shines through in this song. Hopefully, it reaches all struggling individuals.

10. He loves to travel, but he always speaks fondly of his home.

Ed always makes his way home, regardless of where he travels. His family and friends come first in his life, as they should.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
