I’m just going to be honest here; some parts of life are just flat out awful. From failing an exam, a breakup, a passing of a loved one, or even just a couple days or weeks of feeling useless can really put you down in the dumps. On the bright side, there is good news for Christians! God is with us! He is with us through the pain and the sorrow and knows exactly how we feel and what we need of Him. Those who serve Him know that in Him, we have hope. God does not promise that we will not face trials and challenges in life just because we are saved, but He does promise that He will be with us. I don’t know about you, but to me, that is exactly what I need to be reminded of every now and then. Be consistent in prayer and obeying God’s word and good things will come up ahead, I promise. One of my favorite books of the Bible is the book of Romans, written by the Apostle Paul. Let’s take a look at some beautiful bible verses in Romans which can help you overcome any trial that you face in life, big or small.
1. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
You may not see a lot of good in your life now, but don’t give up hope. Keep loving God, good things are coming that will help your life to glorify Him.
2. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you (Romans 8:11)
How awesome is that knowing that the same spirit that raised Jesus is alive in us?! The same spirit that was here to save the world came down to Earth born in a manger when He should have been born in a palace, is in us and always available to help us.
3. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)
In the end; as in almost any superhero movie, the good guy always wins.
4. Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else? (Romans 8:32)
The most valuable gift God had to offer, He gave. He will not withhold any blessings from us that is within what He promises in His word.
5. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. (Romans 12:12)
Even when things are rough, don’t stop believing.
6. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. (Romans 5:3-5)
No one likes trials, but God will change your life with them, as long as you let Him. You have to be willing to give it up to God and He will turn something ugly into something beautiful.
7. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. (Romans 8:18)
This is what to live for, live for His promise of the goodness. It may not be revealed to us in our life on earth, but it will be once we are reunited with Him.
8. And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. (Romans 8:26)
Sometimes you’re just so broken and don’t even know where to begin in prayer, but that’s okay. Use the Holy Spirit, He is for you as well.
9. Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! (Romans 11:33)
Always trust God because He is our God with a plan.
