10 Reminders From The Bible To Pull You Out Of Your Anxiety As This New Semester Begins

In This Article:

Anxiety, stress, and sleeplessness are unfortunate after-effects of going to school. More assignments, more exams, more projects all mean stress all the more. Everyone has their own way of coping with their stress but there aren't many that are long-term and effective. That being said, God's word and the truth of the scripture has a very powerful way of replacing anxiety and stress with confidence and rest. God WANTS us to abide in His presence and seek him when life gets overwhelming because the peace and rest He gives can only be found in Him. Here are 10 Bible verses too put our minds at ease when anxiety wages war.

1. Psalm 94:19 (TPT)

"Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control, the soothing comfort of your presence calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight."

2. Psalm 34:4 (NLT)

"I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears."

3. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (TPT)

"But he answered me, "My grace is always more than enough for you,[a] and my power finds its full expression through your weakness." So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I'm weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me."

4. Proverbs 3:5 (TPT)

Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make.

5. Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

6. Matthew 11:28-29 (NLT)

"Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

7. Psalm 121:1-2 (TPT)

"I look up at the mountains and hills, longing for God's help. But then I realize that our true help and protection come only from the Lord, our Creator who made the heavens and the earth."

8. 1 Peter 5:7 (TPT)

"Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you."

9. Philippians 4:6-7 (MSG)

"Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life."

10. Psalm 46:1 (NLT)

"God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble."

Classes will keep you busy but before you let business turn into anxiety, remember to spend time at the feet of Jesus and in His word. If you need an immediate solution for your anxiety, write these scriptures on stickies and place them around your room. Make one of these scriptures your phone wallpaper. Whatever it is, never forget that God's plan for you doesn't include anxiety. He wants you to be set free from these things. Allow Him to give you rest and relief.

Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
