If you are anything like me and are always on Pinterest or Instagram, you have probably seen the new trend that everyone is trying: Bible journaling.
Bible journaling is when you paint, color, doodle, or draw in the margins of your bible. You can bible journal in a normal bible or purchase a journaling Bible. I have become OBSESSED with Bible journaling and what it has done in my life. I truly believe that Bible journaling has changed my life. When I first started Bible journaling I thought that I wasn’t “artsy” enough but I was so wrong! Here are a few reasons why you should get involved in Bible journaling!
1. Bible Journaling will help you connect more to the word.
Before I started Bible journaling I wasn’t that interested in reading my Bible, I
thought it was filled with the same stories I’ve heard all my life in Sunday School.
I was so convicted about nor reading my Bible but I really didn’t know where to
start. Through Bible journaling I have found a way to become more connected to what I’m reading.
2. Bible journaling is a new, amazing way to share His word that anyone can do.
I have been on many mission trips and I have met amazing people on them. I
keep up with the people I meet on from trips on Facebook, I also share my work there. I have received lots of messages and comments from my friends all over the
world asking me questions about Jesus and the passages that I have journaled!
3. Sometimes we are in such a rush that we do not sit down and meditate on what God is trying to teach us.
While I love reading my Bible, I sometimes find myself having to reread the
passage because I have drifted off or started to think about other things. Bible
journaling has helped me focus on what God is trying to teach me, instead of just rushing off and doing the next thing on my to-do list.
4. You can use almost anything to Bible journal and even use some pretty cool tools.
I started off Bible journaling with colored pencils, pens, and markers; I was so
happy with those tools. Eventually, I became branching out with new paints,
washi tape, brushes, and tabs. Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, and Michaels have now
become my favorite stores to “get lost” in on a regular basis.
5. Bible Journaling is my favorite form of worship and a way to express what I feel like God is teaching me and to connect to other Bible journalers across the world.
One of my favorite things about Bible journaling is the community behind it.
Almost each person I met in this community has been so encouraging and kind! Every time I post my work on Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #BibleJournaling I get a lot of encouraging comments by other Bible journalers on my posts.
Okay friends, I hope I have persuaded you to give Bible journaling a try! I really
believe that you will fall in love with it, because I know that I have.
