After surprising the World with news of the Formation Tour then news of project lemonade Beyoncé has finally blessed us with her sixth studio album titled “Lemonade.”
This album features a completely different side of Beyoncé, if you were surprised at how she switched up her style in her last album self-titled “Beyoncé” you're in for a treat with lemonade. This album which includes visuals for every song touches on the subjects on infidelity in her marriage, her trust issues with her father, redemption from past issues and more. While the world may be in awe that even Beyoncé can get cheated on it is very important that we listen to and analyze the words that Beyoncé is saying rather than only focusing on the fact that her husband was unfaithful.
After listening to the album a few times I learned that there are a few important things that everyone who has ever had to deal with being cheated on can learn from listening to what Beyoncé has to say.
1. "When your hurt me, you hurt yourself."
The song "Don't hurt yourself." Is the most accurate description of the phrase "it's not me, it's you." It's not your fault that someone else failed at being faithful. Don't beat yourself up after finding out that someone else couldn't be faithful to you. Like Bey said sometimes you just have to let it be!
2. "Now you want to say you're sorry, now you wanna call me crying."
The song "Sorry" is a friendly reminder that even though being forgiving is a part of growing, saying sorry does not fix anything. This is everyone's reminder that the damage has already been done and words can be comforting but at the end of the day they still do not fix what already happened.
3. "Six inch heels, she walked in the club like nobodies business."
"6 inch" is your reminder that your relationship and your partners infidelity do not define you, nor does it make you less of a person. You are still amazing!
4. "Daddy made a soldier out of me."
Now let's say your dad is the first man in your life to hurt you the song "Daddy Lessons." is your reminder that your dad leaving may have broken you for a little bit but in the end it made you stronger! Just like being cheated on may break you down but in the end you will be fine.
5. "Nine times out of ten I'm in my feelings, but ten times out of nine I'm only human."
"Love drought" is your friendly reminder that it is okay to be sad over everything that happened. It is okay to cry, it is okay to be emotional over the situation because you're only human right?
While the whole album may have had the BeyHive ready to murder Jay Z, it is important to realize that Beyoncés "Lemonade" was about growing as a person, learning from the past and not letting what happened to her define who she is as a woman.
If you missed the HBO premiere of lemonade, the whole album with videos included can be found on Tidal.
