You've been warned.

Beware The Geese At UWGB
Pexel

If you go to UWGB, then you're probably aware of the torturous geese that call the campus their home for the majority of the year. They may look cute from far away, but once you get close to them they look like an evil monster. I remember when I moved to UWGB for my freshman year I was so afraid of the geese. I'd walk past them hesitantly as I try to make my way to class. I thought maybe that goose was just having a bad day, but I quickly realized the campus is covered with these evil birds.

I am now a junior and I still have silent panic attacks every time I walk past a goose around campus. Avoiding one goose is hard enough, but it's quite the challenge to get to class when the sidewalk is crowded by upwards of 30 geese at a time, and I highly doubt my professors would accept "geese loitering the sidewalk" as a reasonable excuse to show up late to class. The worst part is when you are walking past them nervously and it feels like they are all giving you the evil eye. I just walk by quietly while in my head there is an internal dialogue of me laughing nervously because I feel like my life is in danger. Luckily, since this is my third year dealing with these bad boys I've gained a little confidence around them, which I means I no longer have to take the longer route to my classes just to avoid the geese.

After reading this I hope I haven't scared anyone off from spending time outside just because they are avoiding the devil birds. I'm just warning you when they are around walk with caution and possibly have a stick with you to protect yourself from them. So please, go walk on the trails around campus because they are beautiful this time of year. And go play some golf at the golf course, just make sure to have a club handy. Don't let the geese ruin all of the fun things there are to do in fall on campus.

And to any geese reading this: Please leave us students alone!! We never did anything to hurt you, and if someone ever did I'm deeply sorry, but please don't take it out on us. If you don't like us being in your space there are plenty of farm fields you could lay in just seconds away from campus. If you really don't like us you can just move. The next time you decide to hiss at a student walking by think about how they feel. Do you really want to scare them out of their mind? All I'm asking is for you to be a little less tense, like your cousins the ducks.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
