5 Sequels That Were Better Than The Original

Not all movies go downhill after the first.

Movie sequels are notorious for being worse than the original movie that preceded them. They're usually just created for money so someone in a studio just cranks out a poorly made-up plotline and a thrown-together script to get said money as soon as possible.Sequels tend to not do as well and are unpopular among audiences. However, there are just a few movie sequels I can think of that were, in my opinion, better than the originals.

1. Finding Dory

Prequel: Finding Nemo

Finding Dory was just released but it immediately grabbed hold of the hearts of so many of its viewers. Finding Nemo was great in and of itself, but everyone knows it was predominantly because of how cute and funny Dory was, so why not just create a movie in which she is the star?

2. The Dark Knight

Prequel: Batman Begins

So, Batman Begins was necessary to create a path for The Dark Knight but origin stories, although well needed, can always be a little slow and unwanted. The Dark Knight was consistent compelling and with the origin story already out of the way, it was able to really shine. Plus, Heath Ledger's Joker character is one of the most iconic and most impressive.

3. Jurassic World

Prequels: Jurassic Park 1, 2, and 3

Jurassic World is a movie I could watch time and time again, and I have because I have brothers that don't understand the concept of "too much of a good thing." This movie not only keeps you interested throughout the whole story, again no origin stories necessary and there's not too much unnecessary build-up before we get to the good part. It also even pays tribute to the older movies and the original park multiple times to give us all sense of nostalgia.

4. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Prequel: National Lampoon's Vacation

What better way to make a movie better than to make it Christmas themed? Christmas Vacation is possibly one of the most quotable movies and everyone relates to a little festive chaos. No matter how old this movie gets or how many times we may watch it during the season, it never gets any less funny.

5. Insidious 2

Prequel: Insidious

It's extremely rare that you'll ever find a decent horror movie, much less a decent horror movie sequel. Insidious 2 takes a trip into the psyche and the happenings of what goes on while you sleep. This movie explains phenomena that occurred in the first movie as well as demonstrating how the physical world interacts with the other world called "the further." This movie plays with your head and keeps you intrigued throughout.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
