I find that the perfect playlist does not exist and that it often changes with the times and the mood of the listener. But there comes a time when the current playlist is just perfect and it is an everyday necessity.
Every summer brings on new music and new musical discovery. As a music junkie, I tend to discover new promising music throughout the year, but I find that the summer brings the opportunity to find even more.
As the summer comes to a close, I found that there have been a few songs that have managed to stay on my Spotify playlist for the past few months and they deserve to be applauded.
Before the list starts there are a few honorable mention artists that deserve their praise, including James Bay, Coldplay and Foy Vance. All who remain on the same playlist, but way too many of their songs are on there to just include one on the list.
1. "Hell of a Girl" by Grace
Most people know this girl from her song with G-Eazy and her remake of "You Don't Own Me." Her debut album dropped a few weeks ago and I found this tune completely addicting.
2. "How Not To" by Dan + Shay
Although country music can sometimes get a bad rep, I find it is perfect for the summer.
3. "Happiness" by NEEDTOBREATHE
I found this song a while back and added to my playlist and, to be honest, it has not left and it has been one of my absolute favorites. It's upbeat and inspirational with a unique rock sound!
4. "Something Real" by Blackbear
5. "Turn It Up" by The Wrecks
All I have to say, is check theese guys out!
6. "Horns" by Bryce Fox
7. "Ophelia" by The Lumineers
Even though I consider the Lumineers' album "Cleopatra" completely amazing, one song has remained on one playlist for the past few months. "Ophelia" is heartfelt and somewhat catchy, and as one of the band's first singles off of "Cleopatra," it really set the bar high for the rest of the album.
8. "Superstitious" by MKTO
9. "Change of Heart" by The 1975
10. "Doubt" by Twenty One Pilots
Now that summer is almost over, a new playlist will soon be created and new music will be released.
I find that music is perfect to express whatever. It is basically a soundtrack to your life, so make sure when you make a playlist or when you find a song, it can reflect your life, because maybe one day someone will look back and see it as a story.
