songs I'd cut off my leg to hear for the first time again

I listen to a lot of music- like A LOT. Honestly, I can't do basic everyday activities without listening to music. From getting ready in the morning to falling asleep at night, Spotify is always playing. (Maybe this is the reason my phone is always on 1%, rip)

Anyways, here are some songs I would give anything to listen for the first time again:

1. August by Flipturn

I didn't give this song a chance at first, mostly because I thought it was going to be another slow indie-rock song. I'm so glad I didn't skip it. This song brought back feelings I didn't even know I had. Lowkey kinda weird, however, I believe this song captures what all of us go through in life. Since I can't come across this song again for the first time, I hope you can and give it a listen.

2. Darling by Christain Leave

This song reminds me of sunflower fields, 50s diners, and sunny days laying out by the pool. If you ever listen to it I hope it brings you the same feeling. Darling sparks so much happiness and Chrisitan Leave's adoration for the person he's singing to paints a beautiful picture. The amount of serotonin I experienced when I listened to this song first is astonishing.

3. Younger by Ruel

Ruel's music is so emotionally dense. Younger particularly just hits you where it hurts. The pain in his voice, especially at the 2:30 mark, effected me in a whole different way. I have never been so taken aback at how much he poured his heart into this song. It's definitely sad boi hours type of music however if you ever have the chance just listen to it.

4.To Noise Making (Sing) by Hozier

Not to be THAT girl but I had the opportunity to listen to Hozier's Wasteland Baby album before it was realized on Spotify. I was sent a CD and because it was 2019 and I don't own a CD player, I played it in my car. I wanna say I sat in my Subaru for like an hour just listening to Sing by Hozier. His range as an artist is amazing and this song is beautiful. I wholeheartedly believe this song is the epitome of what being in love truly feels like.

5. Window by Still Woozy

Wanna have a chill song that you can also move to? Listen to this. The instrumentals and beat are so unique and Woozy's voice is so alluring. My only wish is for the song to be longer, but other than that its fantastic. I first listened to Window in a cozy orange room during golden hour. Let me tell you the vibes were immaculate. I wish I could go back and experience it again.

6. Peach by Kevin Abstract

Confession: I don't like rap, r&b, hip hop, soul music, etc. So when this song came up on my Spotify I was shocked that I loved it so much. I had never listened to Kevin Abstract until his song Peach. In my opinion, I feel like this song is the script that goes through men's minds when they wanna simp but also be an 'idc' guy. I wish I could listen to it again and regain the epiphany I had. (It's also a beautifully made song and Kevin Abstract is an amazing artist)

7. Autodomesiticated Animal by Birdtalker

This song just understands me. I've never had a song completely relate to who I am as a person more than this. It captures my relationship with my mother and how I see the world- something I've never heard before in a song. The first time I listened to it, I cried. I wouldn't necessarily want to be in the same headspace as I was when I first came across this song, however, I think its a wonderfully sad song that portrays my life.

8. Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High? by Arctic Monkeys

An old song I know. I first listened to this on my purple iPod Nano back in 2013. Emo Grace was thriving lemme tell ya. Arctic Monkey's classic rock vibe makes this a perfect late-night driving song through the city. It brings a sense of nostalgia to my teenage years and to listen to it again for the first time would be everything.

9. Perfect Places by Lorde

Some people listen to Frank Ocean when they're sad. I listen to Lorde. Her album Melodrama is a masterpiece and Perfect Places is my favorite song out of it. This song makes me want to shave my head, and steal a car. It's a perfect sad song for someone who can't listen to depressing slow music.

10. Love and War in Your Twenties by Jordy Searcy

This song is an 'our song' moment. I share this with someone very close to me and associate it with one of the most meaningful memories I made in college. Love and War in Your Twenties perfectly captures the disarray and confusion we as a generation go through in our young adulthood. I felt complete when I heard this for the first time, and it reminded me I'm just as lost as everyone else.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
