Everyone needs a good place to study during the semester. It will make or break your semester.
Between loud noises, seeing people, and the lighting, there are so many distractions from studying wherever you are. As those first exams start to roll around, it is hard to find that perfect place to study. We all want to start off the semester strong and having the perfect studying environment can make or break that exam score.
Here are my favorite places to study that I think you all would enjoy as well.
HSSE Library (Humanities, Social Science & Education
Library). This
library is the best place to study if you like it to be completely silent.
Pulling out your chair to sit down will be the loudest noise in the library. It
is located next to Loeb Playhouse, inside Stewart Center. There are four floors,
each of which you can study on. The other nice thing about this library is that
you can check out books from. If you are studying and want more information
or help, you have direct access. Although it closes most nights at midnight, it
is a great place to study until then!
Loeb Fountain. When the
weather is nice, another great place to study is outside by the Loeb Fountain.
There are so many benches and tables that are usually available. Plus, the view
of beautiful campus and the fountain is priceless. There is nothing better than
the sense of outdoors while you study. There’s no need to be locked inside on a
beautiful day.
Hicks Undergraduate Library. Last, but
certainty not least, this is my ultimate favorite place
to study. Although it is usually busy, it has the best studying options. They
have individual cubicles -- my personal favorite to hide from distractions, group study rooms, couches, computers, and high top tables. However, lots of
people are unaware that there is also a basement to Hicks. The basement
consists of the same study options. Hicks does not have the best cell phone service,
which could lead to more productivity. This is the best library for late night
studying, as it is open 24/7.
Although there are other great spots to study around our ginormous
campus, these are just a few to get you started. Next time you can’t focus for
that big exam, try out these places! Wherever you are, make sure you are
studying however you study best. Good luck to all on those first exams!
