College season is coming (or ending), and with that, so is the much-needed shopping. This year, I encountered my very first college shopping experience; it was overwhelming, to say the least. However, throughout the process, I have discovered places that are affordable and accommodative! Here are the best places to shop (on a budget):
1. Amazon.com
Amazon is the place for everything. It has clothes, shower supplies, books-- everything. However, before you start adding thousands of items to your cart, make sure you do your research. Also: if you prefer certain fabrics it's probably best to buy your bedding at a real store.
* TIP: If you don't already have Amazon Prime, you can get a six-month student trial (seriously, this is a life saver).
2. Walmart
OK, I know, Walmart may not be known as the most attractive place to go shopping. But, if you're on a tight budget; this is the place to shop. With bathroom decor, (some of it's cute, I promise) in-stock appliances and accessible hygiene products; this may be a one stop shop. Remember, college isn't luxury living!
* TIP: If you find a product cheaper somewhere else, then let a Walmart employee know-- they do price matching, so you can get a guaranteed low price.
3. Bed Bath & Beyond
Bed Bath & Beyond says it all in the name. You can buy bedding, toiletries, cooking products and so much more. If you're looking for a place to furnish your kitchen and bathroom, then this may be the place for you.
* TIP: If you sign-up for the BBB email list, you can get a 20 percent off gift certificate (every penny counts, right?).
4. RedBubble
I was introduced to this site by a wonderful friend. If you are into a certain TV show, movie or fandom; this place has it all: mugs, wall art, shirts. It also supports independents artists, which is incredibly helpful!
* TIP: There are always sales going on with coupon codes located at the top of the website!
5. Wayfair
Wayfair is fairly uncommon, but trust me, this website is a keeper. There are so many different products from kitchen to storage; apartment and dorm friendly items.
* TIP: There are daily sales with items up to 70 percent off and free shipping for orders over $49.
6. Your University's "Buy & Sell" Page
This, in my opinion, is the most important source you should take advantage of. Students are moving, which means they need buyers as soon as possible; this means they are willing to sell things at really cheap prices.
* TIP: Take care of your furniture, so you can sell it to someone in the future.
Happy shopping-- and don't forget to keep your student ID handy; you never know when a student discount may come your way!
