7 New Hip Hop Albums You Should've Already Been Listening To, But Better Late Than Never

I like to stay hip and trendy on the new music that comes out, and there's been a lot of it recently! From Post Malone announcing Posty Fest to Lollapalooza ending, there's been a whole lot of new music and a whole lot of new bands popping up! As a big music guru, here are the seven new albums you should be listening to, if you aren't already:

Travis Scott - "Astroworld"

This album is hands-down one of my favorite albums dropped all summer. Travis's beats are addictive, and his collaborations with Drake, Frank Ocean and The Weeknd make his album overall spectacular. Say what you want, but the Billboard Hot 100 doesn't lie.

Future - "BEASTMODE 2"

With bangers like "WIFI LIT" and "31 DAYS," no wonder Future made his way back in the game with BEASTMODE 2. We haven't heard a lot from Future since HNDRXX and FUTURE in 2017, but he's making his way back into the scene with BEASTMODE 2.

Wiz Khalifa - "Rolling Papers 2"

With this famous follow-up to his 2011 album, Rolling Papers 2 features some great collaborations, like Real Rich with Gucci Mane and Hopeless Romantic with Swae Lee. This album is more laid back than Travis Scott's but still fantastic. Also, I've heard some rumors about going to his concerts...

Drake - "Scorpion"

The two-sided album caught everyone's attention as soon as it dropped and quickly climbed its way up the Billboard Hot 100. In fact, all 27 songs off the album are on the Billboard Hot 100. He's also spent 30 consecutive weeks as the No. 1 artist on the Billboard Artist 100 chart. Does that get you in your feelings?

G Herbo & Southside - "Swervo"

When Atlanta-born rapper G Herbo and Chicago native Southside collaborate to make an album, obviously it'll be good. Listen to "How I Grew Up," which features 21 Savage, and "Catch Up" featuring Chief Keef to hear what G Herbo can do. Prior to the release of this album, G Herbo released Humble Beast in 2017, and the song "Everything" featuring Lil Uzi Vert was one of the top hits from the album.

Nicki Minaj - "Queen"

Nicki's album QUEEN, just released, has a strong female presence and empowering vibe. "Barbie Dreams" and "Hard White" are two hits from the album that are currently making conversation, as well as "Rich Sex," which features Lil Wayne. Either way, Nicki had her fans waiting four years for the release of this album, and they weren't disappointed.

Trippie Redd - "Life's A Trip"

From "Taking a Walk" to "Missing My Idols," Trippie Redd's new album is full of hits. I also have a soft spot in my heart for him, as he's from Ohio. "Dark Knight Dummo" with Travis Scott was one of his first collaborations, and since then, he's been on the horizon.

Take a listen and let me know what you think!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
