Chance the Rapper recently received the honor of being named Best New Artist at the Grammy's, and rightfully so. During a time in which most hip hop and R&B artists spend more time mirroring the work of each other rather than conceiving new music altogether, Chance has seemingly created his own sound while still maintaining an ever broadening audience and fan base.
Personally I became quite addicted to Chance's very unique style with his 2013 release of 'Acid Rap,' a mixtape turned album with more quality hits than most similarly oriented artists have released in the last decade. However it's not just his lyricism and unique sound that has brought Chance the Rapper to the main stage, it's also in part the fanatic modesty which is consistently apparent in his demeanor. The very first words which came out of the man's mouth when he began his acceptance speech were not "thank you for granting ME this honor" or "I'mma let you finish..." but instead "Glory be to God."
Congratulations Chance, and thank you for your musical contributions to this world.
