Personally, I am not much of a movie buff. I'm never up to date on new releases. All of my favorite movies are from the 90s or early 2000s, and most of them went straight to DVD. But, 2017 has been a pretty good year for movies. I think this is the year that I've gone to the movie theater the most, and a lot of movies I saw were superhero movies ("Thor", "Wonder Woman", "Guardians of the Galaxy", ect.), which is weird because I usually despise superhero movies. Not so surprising, most of the movies on this list are superhero movies because I have found hope in the genre.
Your 2018 movie guide:
1. "Avengers: Infinity War"
I'm excited for this Avengers, to be honest. Many of the superhero movies that were released this year had a great mixture of action and comedy, which is generally my preference and the reason why "Kickass" is my favorite superhero movie. "The Avengers" also has Thor, and I must support my man Chris Hemsworth.
2. "Black Panther"
Yes! That was my initial reaction to this film. The black representation in this movie is too real! I have never seen a superhero movie with more than one black person, and this movie has a whole cast including Lupita who is QUEEN.
3. "DeadPool 2"
Again, a superhero movie with the perfect mixture of action and comedy is right up my alley. When I saw "Deadpool" I could not stop laughing, it was reminiscent of "Kickass", but definitely more "superhero-esque". I'm hoping "Deadpool 2" brings the same raunchy humor that made me fall in love with "Deadpool".
4. "Maze Runner: The Death Cure"
The last two movies on this list are both books to movie features. I will always be more of a book buff than a movies buff. I always try to read the book before seeing the movie. Unfortunately, I watched the first "Maze Runner" before I read the book, but I have since bought the whole series and plan to read "The Maze Runner" and "The Death Cure" before the movie release (or at least before I watch it)
5. "Ready Player One"
Wow. Does "Ready Player One" have a special place in my heart. I read this book when I got my wisdom teeth out and was in bed for a few days. It may have been the painkillers I was on, but this book felt so surreal to me. I can't wait to see how the directors are able to put the unique setting and plot of this novel into a motion picture. FYI: My birthday is in March and seeing "Ready Player One" would be a wonderful birthday present.
