If you are ever looking for a nice midnight snack or something to satisfy your extreme case of the munchies, I highly suggest you try one of these snacks at some point. If you have tried all of these at some point, during a time when you’re just REALLY hungry, I am sure you know how satisfying these snacks are.
10. Oreos and Peanut Butter
If you have never tried this, then you have never seen the movie Parent Trap. It is one of the most fulfilling snacks to eat. However, do not be fooled. Oreos and peanut butter are much different from peanut butter oreos. Seriously though, they do not taste the same and you will be disappointed at 1am on a Saturday night if you eat those instead of the two separately.
9. Taco Bell
Taco Bell is the fast food of the Gods. Literally. At least one old lady has seen the face of Jesus in their nachos or crunch wrap supreme. When you are looking for a late night snack that is perfect for the college budget then this establishment is the right place to go. Usually open to the wee hours of the morning, starving children can satisfy all their edible desires. Remember, Live Mas (Thanks Dominic Rossini).
8. Sour Patch Kids
First there, sour then their sweet, and then you really wish you had more. More specifically the red and blue ones add a nice touch to a midnight craving, and they are very accessible at a local Cvs or 7/11. Not many candies are munchie worth, but these specifically satisfy a crave.
7. Microwave Popcorn
I wish I could tell you why buttery popcorn is so attractive, but I really don’t know. I think its just the fact that one little piece of popcorn is so small that it seems ok to keep eating more and more. Popcorn is perfect for the salty/sweet aspect of a craving.
6. Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked/ Phish Food
What sounds better than half baked (chocolate and vanilla ice cream, fudge brownie, and chocolate chip cookie dough)? Or phish food (Chocolate Ice Cream with Gooey Marshmallow Swirls, Caramel Swirls & Fudge Fish). The answer is nothing.
5. Munchies (red flavor)
The munchies itself! More specifically the red flavor version. Beware, the blue one does DOES NOT taste the same. Nothing is better than a variety of your favorite (Doritos, pretzels, sun hips, and Cheetos) to munch on.
4. Mozzarella sticks/French fries (fried food)
Probably the worst thing to snack, but also very good and worth it are mozzarella stick, French fries, or anything fried really. A personal favorite place to go late at night on weekends when I am very hungry is carvings (GWU Students) because their French fries are surprisingly out of this world.
3. Dominos Pepperoni Pizza
To me, Dominos tastes much better at 3 in the morning rather than at 3 in the afternoon. Cheese or pepperoni, you cant really go wrong. But one thing for sure is that pizza is a very common midnight snack. I mean I see a dominos guy in the lobby of Thurston quite a few times during late hours on the weekends. Greasy pizza, salty pepperoni, and even some crushed red pepper on top, is the cherry on top to a great night.
2. Easy Mac
I highly recommend this. Mostly because it’s one of my favorite midnight snacks, but also because it’s so delicious. Go to Costco or BJs before coming to college and get the 12 pack of easy mac because it is the most convenient thing ever. I’m not really sure why mac and cheese tastes so good, especially really late at night, but since it only takes 3.5 minutes, it is very worth it.
1. Jalapeño Cheetos
This past weekend my friend (thanks Dylan) bought a pack of jalapeno Cheetos into my room, really late, when I was really hungry, and it was the best snack I ever had. I really cant explain it, but something about them are so addicting and so delicious, that you sit there hoping the packet never finishes. Basically my roommates and I are now very obsessed with these. If you’re really hungry, and want a midnight snack, I HIGHLY recommend these.
