There is no doubt about it. Fictional men are the greatest men. They lack the flaws we see in reality and their personalities outshine the limited flaws they do have. Whether it be the Southern gentleman, the die-hard romantic, the rebellious teenage boy or the nerd, nothing compares to them in the real word. Men of literature always seem to have a way with words or a charismatic smile that will make any woman swoon. These are the men that destroy relationships if they walk in your path.
1. Aragorn
Not many can compare to the Strider himself. A man charming enough to woo an elf, he shows a tremendous amount of bravery throughout the epic journey of bringing the one ring to Mordor. His invulnerable loyalty to the Fellowship and undying love for Arwen deem him to be the perfect man. Did I also mention that he is a king?
2. Legolas
The only thing better than a man worthy of the elves is an actual elf. The Prince of the Woodland Realm never ages and is naturally graceful. Gracefulness in a man may seem unattractive until you see Legolas in battle. Known as the finest bowman in Middle Earth, he never seems to miss. It seems impossible to deny a man with such abilities.
3. Sirius Black
It’s undeniable that every woman loves a man who is good with children whether she has them or not. Sirius Black is a child at heart with a dark past he did not deserve. After serving 12 years in the wizard prison, Azkaban, Sirius plays the role of godfather to Harry Potter who doesn’t even remember his parents. While he can give Harry great advice and protect him from whatever evils he possibly can, he can lend a hand when it comes to pulling a prank. He had plenty of practice in school.
4. Fred and George Weasley
The Weasley twins, of course, had to be combined. They were by each other’s side until the very end. It’s hard to beat Sirius Black and the other Marauders when it comes to creating mischief at Hogwarts, but Fred and George achieved this. Everyone loves the class clown and Fred and George took it to the next level creating their own joke line called Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. They later open their own joke shop on Diagon Alley. You can hardly beat a businessman with a sense of humor.
5. Louis de Pointe du Lac
Most girls have had their obsession with Edward Cullen from "Twilight," but nothing compares to the original sexy vampire played by Brad Pitt. He’s a sensitive man who walks the earth during early America in New Orleans, Louisiana, who does not want to give in to the temptations of feeding off a human. Whilst trying to discover his identity in this new life, he must fight to keep his morals and raise his vampire child under the corrupt influence of his creator, Lestat. There just seems to be something so alluring about the imperfect man (or vampire).
6. Rhett Butler
“You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.” If those words don’t make your knees go weak then I don’t know what will. Rhett Butler is the definition of tall, dark and handsome. On the surface, he may seem like a good ol’ Southern gentleman, but as Scarlett O’Hara says, Rhett Butler is “no gentleman." Known to have “the most terrible reputation,” his greatest joys in life involve being drunk or having sex, until he meets Scarlett. Although they fight like cats and dogs, he is completely enamored with her and his daughter, Bonnie.
7. Laurie
Laurie is an adventurous young man whose heart is set on becoming a brilliant composer, much to his grandfather’s dismay. He does not act like the rest of the men of this time. He does not treat women as an object. In fact, his four best friends are women. Jo March and Laurie are the best of friends from the moment they meet. He is not bothered by her untraditional quick temper and tomboyish attitude. He loves it actually and he loves the fact that she reads and writes. He is overall a fun-loving character while still having the gentlemanlike traits of his era that we all know and love.
8. Jon Snow
At first, we see Jon as the illegitimate child of a king. Unwanted by the queen and out of place in Winterfell, Jon Snow goes on to serve in the Night’s Watch. It is here that we truly learn about his bravery and skill. Talented in swordsmanship, he makes his way to the top of the Night’s Watch where he is named Lord Commander. His alliance with a considerably misunderstood group known as the wildlings shows us that he's open minded and kind and most important of all, noble. The way he overlooks the status of the wildlings and opens his heart to them is certainly desirable in a relationship.
