October means Halloween and Halloween means haunted houses-- Some of us love them, and some of us just love to hate them. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I happen to be one of the people who loves them. Here's a guide to the best haunted houses in the Hudson Valley:

1. Pure Terror Scream Park:Monroe, NY. General Admission: $45.00

Before you get scared off by the price, let me explain. Pure Terror Scream Park has six haunted houses, so you're paying about $8.00 per house (totally reasonable). Originally this haunted house used to be at the Castle Fun Center, but it has since upgraded because it needed more space. I loved it at The Castle, and I love it now. Each house has it's own theme, so you're entertained the whole time. Visit their website for more information: http://www.pureterror.com (Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until October 30th- check website for times)

2. Kevin McCurdy's Haunted Mansion: Wappingers Falls, NY. General Admission: $28.00 (NYS Sales Tax Included)

I admit, I haven't been to this one yet, but it's on my list of places to go. This haunted attraction has gotten good reviews and was even featured on AMC Fear Fest! This haunted house has three attractions. Visit their website for more information:http://thehauntedmansion.com/admission.html (Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until October 30th- check website for times)

3. The Forest of Fear: Tuxedo, NY. Tickets Range from $16-$30 (by night).

Again, I know... the price is a little off-putting, BUT this haunted house features seven attractions for the price of 1 ticket. Voted #1 scariest haunt at http://www.hauntworld.com/haunted_houses this is a can't miss this Halloween. Visit their website for more information: http://renfair.com/forestoffear/ (Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights October 7th- October 30th)

4. Headless Horseman: Ulster Park, NY. Online Ticket: $39.95 + 3.95 service charge + tax. On-site Ticket: $46.95 + tax

Nine attractions all included in one ticket. Voted Top 13 Haunts by http://www.hauntworld.com/haunted_houses you MUST visit this attraction. (Open September 17th- November 5th)

5. TerrorDome Scream Park: Newburgh, NY. General Admission: $18.95 + tax or combo for $35.00

The TerrorDome has been scaring people for 18 years and is back for the 2016 season, be sure not to miss it! Each ticket includes three haunted attractions, and the combo ticket (saves $2) includes all six haunted attractions. This haunted house is another one I have to visit this year. (Open November 30th- October 30th and includes extended hours on specific weekends.)

Happy Halloween!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
