Reasons You Need A Girls Night (And Instructions To Have The Best One Ever)

Everyone needs a girls night every now and then. Quality time with your girlfriends is hard to come by in our busy lives, so we have to take advantage of the chances that we get! It's important to know when it's time for a girls night, and it's even more important to do it right!

So, when is it time for a girls night?

1. When school is just becoming too much!

2. When your boyfriend can't get it together.

3. When work is overwhelming.

4. When you no longer see how beautiful you are.

5. When sleep is evading you.

6. When you need shoulders to cry on.

7. When you need someone to tell you like it is.

8. When you're in desperate need of a new outfit.

9. When you're excited about the future!

10. When you just really, really miss your girls.

OK, so it's time for girls night! Everyone has somehow managed to pencil each other in throughout all of the mess that is this life! Now what? How do you make the most of this short time you have available to you? Here are some of my suggestions:

Tips for an awesome girl's night:

1. Support only!

There is no room for negativity, or self-doubt in a girls night! You love yourself, and you love each other! If anyone is starting to feel down, it's everyone's job to pick them back up!

2. Wine--cheap wine!

I'm serious, don't spend $50 on one bottle of wine; spend 30 and get 3! Triple the fun, triple the talk! Wine this one is not a suggestion, wine is a necessity!

3. Baggage

This is where you can let go of everything that has been building up over time! Come equipped with all of your annoyances and struggles, and let it all out!

4. Sweats

Buns up, sweatpants on! No dressing up allowed on a girls night! If you plan to properly complain about how ridiculous your boyfriend is being, or how fed up with work you are, you better get comfortable!

5. Netflix!

Don't even pressure yourselves into watching something life-changing! Just settle in with something that makes you laugh, or cry, or even something you can just ignore and talk over! Netflix is your friend, invite it to the party!

6. Pizza, chocolate, quesadillas--oh my!

Really, this suggestion is open to interpretation and certainly subject to change! Personally, I can attest to the true magic of pizza, chocolate, and quesadillas! But, feel free to experiment!

7. Shopping!

Within reason, of course! This is another opportunity to avoid the pressure of necessity! Don't plan essential shopping items on a girls night! But a couple of things that make you smile, and enjoy yourself.

8. Puppies

Strictly optional, but they certainly help!

9. Lots of laughter

Laugh until it hurts, laugh until you cry, laugh until you forget about how stressed out you are! Laugh at how stupid the things you worry about are, and how great it is to be among friends.

10. Plans for next time

A girls night is not complete or successful until plans have been made to do it all again soon. Promise one another it won't be long, and come up with a list that tops this time!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
