To My Best Friend With Low Self-Esteem

You doubt yourself when there's nothing to doubt at all.

Hey love,

You know what I love the most about you? Your ability to see the best in me. You never judge me, and you're always extremely honest. In a world full of fake characters and stuck up females, I treasure those special qualities in you.

Let me return the favor and be honest with you. You worry about your looks more than you should. You worry more about other people than yourself, and you doubt yourself when there's nothing to doubt at all.

You're one of the strongest and most independent women I know.

You don't care what life throws at you because you're always ready to combat it. You are wise well beyond your years and have no problem acknowledging when you're wrong. That takes guts.

I look up to you in so many ways.

You can dye your hair whenever you want, whatever color you want, and it always looks flawless--even when your adorable boyfriend does it for you.

You work your butt off because you don't want to have to ever depend on anyone, but part of me thinks you believe yourself to be a burden. That's the farthest thing from the truth.

Those of us who acknowledge your unique character and love you for it would do anything for you. We love you.

Babe, you mean the world to me. I know we don't talk every day, and I know life gets between us a lot, but I want you to know that I would do anything for you.

If you're feeling low about yourself, call me. I'll remind you why you're so amazing. I'll remind you of how beautiful, smart, and genuine you are.

You're worth so much more than you could ever see.

Our friendship over the years has blossomed into a beautiful relationship that I consider one of the most important ones in my life.

Thank you for making such a huge impact on my life.

Thank you for being true to me and never letting me down. Okay, maybe there was one time, but then we talked in an Applebee's bathroom for 15 minutes, cried, and worked it all out. So that doesn't count.

Don't ever let tough situations beat you up.

Beat them up and show 'em who's boss. Remember, your strength will lift you back up when you fall. Also, always remember the people who love you, including me, will brush the dirt off your back and butt. I've got your butt, no worries.

Stay confident, and keep your chin up.

I know sometimes it seems like life can never be figured out, but just remember the journey is the fun part. In the words of Rascal Flatts, "I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow, and each road leads you where you wanna go."

I love you.

Your latina twin and forever love,
Lesly

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
