To my best friend,

As I watch you post an Instagram in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa or scroll through your 42 consecutive snapchat stories of you slugging away in Germany-- a lot comes to my mind. Jealousy. Just kidding. Well, not really. I also think of happiness. I'm so happy for you and how much genuine excitement you're feeling on your semester-long vacation away from home (and me). As someone who always wants the best for you, I just wanted to say thank you.

Thanks for answering my facetimes at weird times of the day.

I know you are busy in classes-- if they are even considered classes-- and I wanted to send out a big thank you for going out of your way to check up on my days at home. Thank you for facetiming me while you're on wifi in random cafes in Florence, and thank you for updating me on your crazy, wild, club life out in the cobblestone streets. I love listening to your random stories and abroad secrets, and our constant communication means the world to me.

Thanks for still remembering me.

As you live your dream out in beautiful countries on the other side of the world, I'm so happy that I still come to your mind. Thank you for going above and beyond, and not just being my sidekick when the location is convenient. You have helped me beyond compare and guided me in so many of the right directions. Our friendship is so cherished and important to me and is something I could never do without. Thank you for not forgetting about me as you meet so many new people and make plenty of other best friends while you're on your travels. Our friendship is what helps me get through some of the toughest times.

Thanks for listening to me.

Even thousands of miles away, you are still my rock. Thanks for facetiming me the second I told you I was having a sad day. Thanks for watching me cry through the iPhone camera screen as I told you about my troubles, and thank you for still being the compassionate and sweet person you are, even on the other side of a camera. Thanks for caring and still being my biggest support system when there are plenty of other people you can care for when you're out in who knows where.

Thanks for having enough fun for the both of us.

Let's be honest, you are killing it out there. I'm so proud of you for conquering your fears and flying across the country with an open mind and an open heart. You are doing amazing things wherever you go, and I know you deserve every ounce of fun you're having over there. You are basically modern day Lizzie Mcguire and I miss you more than you know. Thanks for being my best friend.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
