Best Fraternity Rush Videos of 2014-2015

We all know that rush is an integral part of any Greek system at most major universities. While it seems as though girls are forced to endure the worst parts of formal recruitment, it is equally as awful for guys.

Superficial sorority rush videos became a trend over this past year...but I bet you didn’t know fraternities made them as well. While browsing around the weirder parts of Youtube, I discovered that fraternity rush videos were rampant. Here are a few that I stumbled upon that I can’t seem to forget.

Here's a little bit of information about fraternity rush to help familiarize you with the term:

Now let's begin...

Honorable Mention:

James Madison University - Delta Sigma Phi

“And you know we know how to party….JENGA.”

JMU Delta Sigma Phi (Spring Rush 2015)- Score: 6.5/10

Explanation: The combination of background music and the cheesy jokes from this video are on spot. While I found myself laughing at parts, this whole video from start to finish just generally makes me feel slightly uncomfortable. While I would still join this fraternity, I don’t know if I could ever take them seriously.

1. University of California, Santa Barbara - Kappa Sigma

Kappa Sigma Fall Rush 2014 - Score: 7.5/10

“His hobbies are a cause for mass celebration, they say he has a third arm reserved solely for lighting cigars.”

Explanation: As far as creativity goes, this one takes the cake. A couple thoughts that went through my mind while watching this were “Kappa Sigs are the probably the freshest of frat daddies. They’re the type of guys can disarm you with their looks or their impressive 4.0 GPAs. The Kappa Sigs mother’s associate loves their sons so much that they all have matching Kappa Sig tattoos on their arms”. I don’t know about you, but if I was a guy and I went to UCSB I would definitely consider joining Kappa Sigma.

2. Virginia Tech - Alpha Tau Omega

Alpha Tau Omega (Virginia Tech) Spring Rush 2014 Video – Score 7/10

Ruh Rah Rega! Alpha Tau Omega! Hip hoorah hip hoorah, three cheers for Alpha Tau. ATO!”

Explanation: Honestly ATO pretty much nails it as far as an ode to Colin Kaepernick’s Beats Commercial. Fraternity rush can sometimes be as intense as sorority rush and occasionally important to remind yourself that “You’re the Man”. While I wouldn’t say this is the most hilarious items on our list, I would say that it’s definitely memorable. Way to go ATO!

3. Ohio University - Phi Kappa Psi

Phi Kappa Psi Recruitment Video Spoof Side-by-Side – Score: 8/10

I love you like XO, You love me like XO.”

Explanation: Phi Kappa Psi has done the world a service by inviting us to laugh at the ridiculous promenade that girls must endure each year known as ‘Formal Recruitment’. The introduction of superficial “rush videos” by a handful of tech-savy sorority girls everywhere has made world a darker place. All I have to say to is THANK THE LORD someone had the balls to make fun of sorority rush.

4. University of California, Los Angeles - Delta Sigma Pi

UCLA Delta Sigma Pi Winter 2014 Recruitment Video - Score: 9/10

“When I came to UCLA, I applied to 49 jobs which really pissed me off because I didn’t get a single one of them.”

Explanation: The brothers of Delta Sigma Pi at UCLA have done Leo proud with their small tribute to The Wolf of Wallstreet. While I wouldn’t give this video a perfect 10 it’s pretty close, clever and fast paced, this video leaves you with an upbeat feeling. As far as rush goes, I’d definitely consider joining this fraternity.

5. James Madison University - Tau Kappa Epsilon

JMU's TKE Rush Video - Score: 9/10

“Here at James Madison we are a close knit group of brothers who share a set of values. Also at JMU, TKE is one of the oldest fraternities on campus. You could say we have history, but enough about history, those guys were racist.”

Explanation: I don’t really know how much this video needs explaining, short, sweet and to the point. If you don’t join TKE at JMU then you’re probably doing college wrong.

6. University of California, Santa Barbara- Alpha Epsilon Pi

He’s the Man 2014 – Score: 9.5/10

“How do you do it? Well I rushed AEPi…”

AEPi Spring Rush 2014 – Score: 10/10
"Alpha Epsilon Pi- such character, such class, such charisma. I can tell you this much: these men will be there at my first, second and if I'm so lucky, my third wedding, dammit."

Explanation: From my limited experience with fraternity rush videos, I would have to say that the innuendos throughout this video are spot on. In what appears to be a common trend at UCSB – AEPi rush is something that I’m entirely grateful for. These videos are freaking amazing, I don’t mean to sound super lame but AEPi is AEPerfect.

All in all, I’d have to say that at the end of this little adventure in Fratland I’ve learned three things:

1. Fraternity rush is hilarious.

2. Fraternities are SUPER creative.

3. Joining a fraternity is going to be one of the best decisions of your life.

Think your fraternity’s rush video was awesome and just wasn’t included? Feel free to submit your suggestions to Danni@olympiamediagroup.com.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
