Are you overwhelmed by the large number of coffee shops that the Fargo/Moorhead (FM) area offers? Are you stuck in a rut of going to just your ordinary Caribou or Starbucks? Then this is the article for you!

During my senior year at Concordia, I was able to take an independent nonverbal communication class. For my research project I decided to compare varying coffee shops in the area. I realized that there is an immense variety in the style of coffee shops in the area. From classic and chic to stylish and hip, each shop had it's own distinct atmosphere.

I will admit that I have not been to every coffee shop in the area. But let's be real, there are a lot. A quick search on Google will come up with 20+ shops instantly. So I may change my mind once I visit some of the ones that I have not gotten to yet. But for now, here are my top three coffee shops.

1. Dunn Brothers 45th

Dunn Brothers is not a locally founded, but it is locally owned. Each branch of these stores is owned and operated by an individual in the area (so it isn't just a corporate branch).

The company also boasts that they are "Globally Grown, and Locally Owned." Working only with sustainable producers, Dunn Brother's makes sure they know that the coffee they serve is coming from a quality source while also providing a fair wages to the farmers who produce them.

With its relaxing music, warm fireplace, and plenty of table space, Dunn Brothers on 45th St. in Fargo is my go-to place to work on homework. From the friendly staff to the sustainable coffee, this place will certainly make you feel at home.

2. Babb's Coffee House

If you're looking for the comfiest chairs to sit in, Babb's is your place. If you also value a hip atmosphere, friendly spaces, and many many drink options, then you definitely should check out Babb's. Located right on Main Avenue, it is also the perfect place to stop by to grab some coffee to go while holiday shopping or stop i for a moment to give your feet a rest. My favorite spot is the chairs by the large couch!

They also have the BIGGEST caramel and cinnamon rolls I have ever seen in my life! Ask them to warm it up for you and you'll be sure to come back to have one again.

3. Nicole's Bakery

For all the sweet-tooth people out there, prepare to meet your next favorite place in the world. Nicole's Bakery has a large selection of coffee drink, food, and dessert options that could satisfy any taste pallet. With their amazing desserts such as chocolate truffles, cheesecake, and many others that have fancy names that I can't remember, this shop is certainly one that you're going to want to check out.

Nicole's also features artists all around their shop. Part of their mission is to support the local art community, so most artists featured are from the area. So if you like sipping a beautiful cup of coffee while biting into a sweet dessert, and being surrounded by beautiful pieces of art, then I recommend Nicole's for you.

No matter what shop you prefer, I hope that all you coffee lovers out there find the place that is right for you. It's out there somewhere!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
