The Best 8 Things About Being Home
Its Holiday season and college students are looking forward to going home. Here are my 8 favorite things about being home.
1: MY BED
-My bed is a definite number one. Even though I do love and miss my family and friends, there is something about sleeping in your own bed. My mom asks, “Ryan, why aren’t you out doings stuff while you’re home?” With which I reply, “But Mom, my bed.”
2: Your Dog
-I no longer have a dog but I feel like the first thing that happens over break is that I get bombarded with snap chats from all of my girl friends and their dogs. There is just something special about Buddy the dog apparently. I wouldn’t know.
3: Your Mom
-I don’t know about you, but my mother is a gem. I always tell my friends that ‘home is where my mom is’. This might sound kind of cheesy but its true, if my mom is there it feels like home. Tell your parents you love them.
4: Food
-Where I go to school I am blessed with great on campus food, but by the end of the semester the sound of Qdoba and Subway makes me gag. It is such a good feeling to be sitting on your couch and being able to walk 12 feet to a fridge full of food to eat whenever you want. And the best part is that I don’t have to pay for it myself.
5: Old Friends
-Maybe you don’t talk to anyone from high school anymore and maybe you do, but one of my favorite things about being home for the Holidays is being able to meet up with old friends. You probably haven’t talked in month because you have been off living your own lives, but when you get together its like you never left. Hold on to these friends.
6: No Homework
- Can we all agree that having no homework for a whole week or month is one of the best feelings there is. Yes, you probably have so much stuff to do when you return to school, but for now just pretend it doesn’t exist and relax.
7: Your Local Coffee Shop
- I probably sound like a ‘basic white girl’ right now - I don’t even like that phrase - but it’s the only way I can describe it, being relevant. You might not like coffee or even have a favorite coffee shop. I don’t really like coffee that much either, but my town is home to the #1 coffee shop in Minnesota. It’s always a good idea to go get some hot chocolate and sit by the fire with friends in Mocha Monkey.
8: YOUR BED
-Can we give another shout out to our beds for always being there even when we aren’t.
Being away from home helps us realize two things: Home is a great place and so is your bed.
