1. U.S. National Whitewater Center
There are 24 different land and water activities available at the white water center located in Charlotte, NC. This facility spans 500 acres and is host to the world’s larges man-made whitewater river. Flat water activities, like kayaking and paddle boarding, are also available.
2. The Biltmore House
The gorgeous home of George and Edith Vanderbilt is the epitome of elegance. Built over a century ago, this Asheville, NC estate is filled with original art by Pierre-Auguste Renoir and John Singer Sargent. The 70-foot ceilings and charming decor is simply breathtaking.
3. Linville Gorge and Falls
Known as "The Grand Canyon of the East," this magnificent site can be found in Linville Falls, North Carolina. Linville Falls propels water a total of 90 feet from the multi level cliff into one of the most beautiful and deepest gorges in the eastern US.
4. The Outer Banks

5. Sliding Rock 
Sliding Rock is a 60 foot natural water slide, near Brevard, Asheville, that shoots into an 8 foot deep pool of water.

The Blue Ridge Parkway spans 252 miles along the edge of North Carolina's Blue Ridge mountains. The parkway provides lots of things to do, from camping and hiking to regional art and historic sites.
7. Devil's Tramping Ground 
Located near Silver City, NC, the Devil's Tramping ground is a 40 foot in diameter piece of land that is barren to any living organism. If you step foot in the circle with a compass, it spins wildly. Legend has it that any object left in the circle will end up outside of it by dawn.
8. Mile High Swinging Bridge
This 228 foot suspension bridge is located in Grandfather mountain.
9. Chimney Rock 
Hop on an elevator or trek up 26 stories to reach the top of the iconic 535 million years old Chimney Rock. From the top, take in the incredible view of Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge.
10. First US Gold Rush
The first Gold Rush in the United States happened in NC. Reed Gold Mine pioneered gold production and 1848 and is now open to the public for tours.
