Bernie Sanders is the Ron Paul of 2016, and I’ll prove it to you.
If you don’t know, Ron Paul is a politician who ran for president in the Republican primaries in 2008 and 2012. At the time, he was the Representative from the 14th Congressional District of Texas. Of course, he lost to John McCain and Mitt Romney in 2008 and 2012, respectively, for the nomination. He didn’t do well - he even lost his home state of Texas both times. Why did he lose?
Because the system is rigged.
Ron Paul’s economic policies are very conservative, even when compared to the Republican Party (which he was a member of until 2015, when he switched to the Libertarian Party). He supports the abolition of the IRS, a return to the gold standard, etc. Those ideas are considered radical by most people. I’m not saying that they’re good ideas or that they’re bad ideas. I’m just saying that they’re radical ideas. The Republican and Democratic Parties have one thing in common: they’re against radical ideas. They love whatever the status quo is. They don’t like change. Ron Paul’s campaigns were doomed from the start, because only someone with more mainstream views can have a viable campaign. The system is rigged against candidates with radical ideas.
And that’s where Bernie Sanders comes in. Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT), like Ron Paul, has radical economic policies, except that his are very liberal - even when compared to the Democratic Party. He supports free public college, a $15-per-hour minimum wage, etc. And that’s exactly why he’s going to lose the Democratic nomination to Hillary Clinton. The system is rigged against radical candidates such as Bernie Sanders.
The Democratic National Convention is less than three weeks away, and it looks like the end of Bernie Sanders’ campaign is inevitable. It’s unfortunate that the system is rigged.
