EDM, or Electric Dance Music, is one of the fasted growing genres of music all around the globe. When you hear talk about this genre, you probably think of DJ's and festivals. However, there is more to it than what you see on the surface.
When we were kids, we always wanted to have fun, right? We wanted to play as much as we could and as long as we could. As life moves on, you begin to have responsibilities and duties of all sorts. The fun you had as a kid begins to fade when you reach a certain point in adulthood, and you can't think of anything you did as a kid that would be relevant to your older self. For some of us, the fun refuses to die. When I was in high school, I discovered EDM. It changed everything about my life. A lot of people will tell you this about music, and you might find it silly, but it's true. I believe that a certain type of music finds people. and when it does, it won't let go. I can try and describe to you what EDM is, but to get a better understanding of it, you'd have to give it a shot.
If somebody hears their favorite song or tune, they can't help but become overwhelmed with joy, even if they don't show it. Making people happy is a top priority for me, and I can't think of any better way than doing through music. Causing people to be happy and want to dance is what I gain energy from, and that's what DJ's do. I have wanted to be a DJ for most of my teenage life, and when I got the opportunity to perform, I took it and ran with it. Designing logos, finding a tag name, and staying up late nights building a set; this was all fueled by the happiness and true joy others.
This is exactly what is beneath the surface of the EDM scene that everyone sees. It turns dreams into realities. You look on a stage at a festival and see the DJ. He or she is having the time of their life, whether they show it or not. They're just like any other regular person that wants to have fun. Some of us are still kids and refuse to stop the fun time. EDM brings life to those who never want the fun to die, and it allows people like this to discover themselves. What can I say? For some people, it's their life. If you haven't ever heard EDM before, I suggest you open your mind and give it a try. It might change your life.
