Good and bad are relative terms. They can be interpreted and assigned differently by individuals. One person may label something as "bad" while another thinks it's "good" or that it falls somewhere in-between the two. Grey area. Grey are can be tricky. It's where miscommunications happen and where disagreements, falling outs, and indifference thrive.
My friend and I were talking about signs the other day. I'm a big believer in signs, and she is too. But I'd never really considered the notion of "bad" signs. I guess if you come across 666 or a black cat crosses your path, that can be taken as a stereotypically bad sign. But often times, you look for things that are pointed toward positive or happy times coming. "Good" signs, if you will. Sometimes we don't even realize something could've been taken as a sign until after the fact. Signs are relative, too.
Signs, fate, destiny, karma...I like to believe in all of it. None of us really have a clue what's going to happen, so it's natural to look for signs or markers that will hopefully show us the way or help us conclude if something is a "good" or "bad" decision. Maybe it's all made up in our heads, but I'd personally rather believe in something than nothing at all. It makes existing so much more interesting and "magical", for lack of a better word.
As is said in the (amazing) film Serendipity, "...the courageous Trager secretly clung to the belief that life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences. Uh-uh. But rather, its a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan...Ultimately Jonathan concluded that if we are to live life in harmony with the universe, we must all possess a powerful faith in what the ancients used to call "fatum", what we currently refer to as destiny.
So, do you believe in fate?
