There is a longtime stigma that comes with being single on Valentine's Day. Images of women drinking wine, eating chocolate and/or watching Netflix alone instantly come to mind when someone grudgingly mentions the holiday. So, let's face it: Valentine's Day is the worst. Like New Year's, it is a holiday built up by advertisers looking to make more money. Valentine's Day is an exclusive consumerist holiday full of large stuffed bears, heart-shaped chocolate boxes and a dozen roses intended for people in relationships. People who are single and are not in committed relationships are immediately left out since they technically have no one to celebrate with ... interesting. But let's not fret, singles of the world: It's time to stop being pathetic and get over those Valentine's Day blues. There are some awesome reasons why being single on Valentine's Day won't be so bad.
1. You're not in a relationship now and you probably won't be in one by Valentine's day. Accept it.
2. No, your relationship(s) with Ryan Gosling, Justin Bieber and/or Harry Styles don't count.
3. Besides, relationships are extremely dramatic and emotionally draining.
4. There are nothing like we see in the movies — but a lot like what we see in KUWTK.
5. As you can imagine, Valentine's Day will never meet your expectations.
5. It is seriously so disappointing.
6. There might be chocolate and flowers, but the best chocolate is always the one you buy for yourself.
7. There also might be "love," but the best kind of love is the one you give to yourself ... or food.
8. You will save more money than your "in a relationship" friends will.
9. You don't have to worry about possibly breaking up on "the most romantic day of the year."
10. And you don't have to stress out about making the "perfect" plans.
11. You can have a normal night doing whatever you want.
Whether you are a man or a woman celebrating this Valentine's Day in all of your single glory, just know that you will certainly make it out alive. Put on your sweatpants, queue up your Netflix, and spend the evening in like everyone in a relationship wishes they could do.
