Being optimistic, in the simplest form, means you look at the bright side of things. You see the glass as 'half full' rather than half empty. Optimistic people may notice the rain but think about the great opportunities which result from it, such as water for plants, puddles for kids to play in, and refreshment to the area. Others may think poorly of the rain and may think about how annoying it is, everything gets wet, people driving poorly, and how it's generally annoying.
Being optimistic has its pros and cons, but is being too optimistic a bad thing?
Being optimistic has its ups, as well as its downs. The positives of being optimistic go on forever! You are always the happy person, typically the one who people go to for advice. You know that there is light at the end of the tunnel and you are willing to share that light with others. You are the person people want to be, no matter what comes your way, and you are always positive.
On the other hand, too much positivity can be bad. You could overlook serious issues, needing to actually dwell on the situation but not letting yourself. You can be optimistic to the wrong person, who may take it the wrong way. You may be the person that people dread. You may be 'that' person that people try to avoid.
In the end, is being optimistic good, or bad?
It's up to you! If you are optimistic, you'll be surrounded by people who love you for it. They will always look to you for several things, and you will always be 'that' person. If you're not optimistic, that's okay! There are enough people in this world who are, and you don't have to be if you do not want to be. At the end of the day, you are you.
