Being "Basic" Is Not A Personality Trait

Being a “basic bitch,” may not be the most desirable quality, but it is most likely a quality every girl can admit to being every once in a while.

Being "Basic" Is Not A Personality Trait

Personally, I find that being a basic bitch is not a personality trait, but is applicable to specific actions rather than someone as a whole.  When I looked up the definition of “basic bitch,” on Urban Dictionary the definition I thought fit best was, “just an extra regular female.” Most of the other definitions had something along the lines of, “boring, unoriginal, generic, etc.”

First of all, when trying to avoid being a basic bitch, you first must know what basic bitches hold near and dear to their hearts.  For example, when getting ready to go out at night with all of your sisters, a basic bitch wants to take a million posed pictures, as well as some cute “candid,” pictures that are actually far from candid.  Another thing basic bitches love to do is complain about having nothing to wear when in fact her closet looks like the inside of Urban Outfitters.  She proceeds to go into all of her sisters’ closets to find something acceptable to wear out.  Also, basic bitches ALWAYS think they are fat, or their butt looks big, or their arms are looking rather large today.  They proceed to ask a million times if they look overweight in that tight black skirt when they actually look like a stick; it is just what they do.

So, obviously, the first step to avoid being a basic bitch is eliminating all of these stereotypical behaviors. Yes, trust me, I know it is difficult.  The next step towards not being seen as a basic bitch has to do with the clothes you choose to wear.  When I asked a bunch of my sisters some things they thought connected to a basic bitch I heard someone say Uggs.  This is one of the prime examples of basic bitch attire.  Uggs, yoga pants/leggings, North Face and much more, are things that basic bitches live for.

Now, when it comes to socials the stereotypical clothing is slightly different.  For example, if it was a “Dress to Impress,”  a basic bitch would most likely wear some tight body-con dress and sky high heels, or a really low cut dress that she obviously is not wearing a bra with.  However, if it was a normal social or even a themed social, she would most likely wear some plain colored crop top with either a skirt or shorts and either heels, sandals or converse.   If you avoid combining all of these articles of clothing you will most likely avoid being a basic bitch.

Lastly, there are few very stereotypical things you should avoid doing or saying if you do not wish to be a basic bitch.  Do not talk about how you want pizza, or how pizza is bae.  The same thing goes for anything from Starbucks.  And most importantly, do not say anything along the lines of, “I literally can’t even.”

As I said before, being a basic bitch is not something to be ashamed of in my mind, but if you do not wish to display these qualities pay close attention to your actions in order to avoid being labeled basic.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
