Being away from home is always tough, and here are the most difficult parts of homesickness:
1. Missing Mom’s food

2. Wanting your bed
There’s something about the way the springs/foam of your mattress at home presses exactly the right way on your spine. Even the piles of clothing that are perpetually taking up space add to the luxurious feeling of your bed. Anything different is sure to lead to a morning of neck aches and popping joints.
3. Your bathroom
Belting out the lyrics to your favorite Maroon 5 song and taking a 30 minute long fog-up-the-entire-mirror shower are things that can only be done in the comfort and privacy of your own bathroom. Only at home is it appropriate to brush your teeth while dancing in front of the mirror to the morning pop radio.
4. Comfort and privacy
We’ve all done it: pulled off every uncomfortable layer of itchy sweaters and restricting scarves immediately after stepping foot inside the door only to collapse on the couch for a shameless nap. But we can all agree that this could only ever happen behind the closed doors of our homes.
5. Google Maps?

6. Friends and family
Being miles away from your most loved ones will always be difficult, and Skype is not always going to make up for the distance. Letters and text messages will never match the meaning of a real, face-to-face, heart-to-heart conversation.
7. Midnight snacking
The constant worry that someone may catch you sneaking another cookie from the cupboard ruins the whole experience of midnight munching. The best way to do this is to do it in the privacy of your home.
As Dorothy said, "There's no place like home."
