Being alone is not weird. However, society seems to think the opposite. But think about it. When you see someone sitting alone, one of the thoughts that runs through your head is, “Awh he’s alone….I wish someone would sit with him."
There have been plenty of times that I have wanted to go somewhere or do something and when nobody wanted to tag along, I did it or went by myself. And let me tell ya, people thought I was weird.
But it shouldn’t be considered weird. Being alone is not weird. Society has this idea that doing things alone is a disgrace. Now, it is understandable why society deems this as not okay. We are inherently inclined to socialize with others. But c’mon people it is the 21st century!
If I want to travel and no one else wants to go with me, I will go by myself. Do not feel pity for me. If I go out to dinner alone, do not feel pity for me. Being okay and comfortable with doing things alone means that you are independent.
It’s silly to think that going out alone is really that crazy? We experience human interaction on a day-to-day basis because we have to. It gets tiring. Being alone means spending time with my thoughts and in a world that’s constantly changing that is something that you don’t often get to experience.
There are other benefits that come with doing things alone. For example when you are shopping you don’t have to wait on anyone. You don’t have to worry about watching a show that everyone agrees with. When you are traveling you can go to the places you want to go and when you want to go.
There is so much liberty that comes with doing things alone. Many people prefer doing things alone and society should not have pity towards those people or be concerned. Being alone is not weird.
