Looking Good 24/7 And 13 Other Things You HAVE To Deal With As A Woman In 2019

In This Article:

Being a girl definitely has its pros and cons. Let me rephrase that, being a girl in TODAY'S WORLD has its pros and cons. Everything from how you look, to how you act, and even what you do or don't do is looked at and judged.

We live in a world where we were told to follow our dreams, but we weren't told how hard it would be to achieve them. There are even some things that society tells us we can and can't do as a woman (why is that even accepted?).

Need I say more? Here are just some of the harsh truths about being a woman in today's world.

1. We are pressured to look good all the time

@kyliejenner

And, I mean ALL the time.

2. Safety is constantly on our minds

We know not to walk around town, run errands, or take out the trash late at night by ourselves. The fact that this "paranoia" is completely justified in today's society is frightening. I mean one in five women will be the victim of a sexual assault, and if that's not terrifying then what is?

3. It's expensive as heck

Giphy

Think of all the stuff we have to buy. Don't even get me started on how much we pay to make sure our nails and hair look presentable any time we want to go out.

Also, all of the clothes, pants, leggings, tights, skirts, dresses, shirts, sweaters, blouses, blazers, jackets, coats, and daily underwear will be seen by another human being who I want to find me attractive. High boots, low boots, heeled boots, snow boots, casual boots, sandals, flip flops, high heels, sneakers, hair products, jewelry, makeup, hair spray, nail polish, perfumes, Bobbi pins, hair ties, straighteners, blow-dryers, curling irons, other various girl products - the list of items that we're expected to spend money on IS LONG.

4. We are often judged on our appearance

Weight, makeup, hair, even what we wear - all of it matters.

5. Girls are just plain mean to each other sometimes

Like, why is that even necessary?

6. We shed, like a lot

Honestly, I have lost count on how much hair actually comes out of my head every time I brush it.

7. Sometimes we get special treatment just because we are women

I mean this is not necessarily a bad thing, but it can also be too much at times.

8. We aren't nearly as complicated as men sometimes think we are

Giphy

Honestly, just buy me food and you've made me happy!

9. We are either hated on for putting on too much makeup or not enough

I mean come on, if a girl wants to wear a full face of makeup every day, let her. Even if she is pretty without it.

10. We dislike taking so long to get ready as much as you do.

Yes, we do it mainly for ourselves (and sometimes for other women), but that doesn't mean it still isn't just as annoying. This does not apply to ALL women, but it does apply to most.

11. Love, and finding it, is a major priority

This doesn't necessarily apply to all women, but many will do just about anything for love. I mean look at all the females that go on to 'The Bachelor(ette)'.

12. We are expected to have multiple skills

Giphy

Most females that I know do, however, it should not be a requirement. Women are "supposed to" know how to cook, be able to clean, play a musical instrument and/or sing … and more. Although this is not as true anymore as it once was, it's still a common theme in our society.

13. There is pressure to be happy. Like, ALL the time

I mean, how many of us can say that we are happy 100 percent of the time. To not be completely happy is OK. To be happy is OK. To be sad is OK. Just be honest with how you feel.

14. You might be told that you are "not enough"

But, the truth is that you ARE ENOUGH, and no one should be able to tell you otherwise.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." ~ Proverbs 21:35

For a time, this was (and remains) one of my favorite Bible quotes because it shows how strong a woman can be when she has no other choice.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Sister | Brother Style - Word Press

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
