A Dog's Love

Growing up, I had a couple of dogs that were my family's dogs, but never one that was my own. Never one I really connected with. I never truly knew a dog's love and loyalty until I moved out on my own and I got a dog on my own that I knew I would have to take care of. As it my first year in college and my first few months living on my own I knew it would be a challenge, but it was a challenge I was willing to take on. And to this day I'm so glad I did.

My beautiful baby has changed my life so much in the short two years that I've had her. She couldn't have found me at a more perfect time. She turned my days around for the better and made me so happy. She has taught me the true meaning of friendship, love, and loyalty. She shows me more love and loyalty than anyone else. I could be having the worst day of my life, but I know when I come home I will be greeted with cuddles and wet kisses, which is the best part. I could have scolded her the day before for making a mess on the carpet or for eating food off my plate, but all of that goes away because she loves me so much.

We as humans should really take lessons from dogs. If we treated each other the way that dogs treat their owners, with that kind of love and respect, the world would be a much better place. Dogs are so selfless, and it does not take much at all to make them happy. A small treat and a tennis ball and they could possibly be the happiest creature on the earth. They make the best of every day and help us see the silver lining of a new day, and I believe that that is something everyone should know how to do. Dogs are amazing creatures, and I'm blessed to call one my best friend.
