Beginning Of The Semester: As Told By "Friends"

The end of summer in college is always bittersweet. Obviously, moving back to college brings a fair share of problems -- the stress of moving in, all the responsibilities, due dates and scrambling around looking for lunch money; however, we still look forward to coming back to our lovely college town and seeing our friends again.

Although the show isn't about college, nothing describes college life more aptly than the following "Friends" gifs.

1. When you initially realize that summer is over.

Summers in college aren't quite as much fun as they are when you're a kid; however, realizing that the school year snuck up on you is always kind of a sad thing.

2. When you move out and have to pet your dogs and cats goodbye.

It's kind of the worst because they look so sad, but you can't explain to them why you're leaving or that you'll be back soon.

3. When you get to your dorm and have to move everything in.

Fitting two people's worth of boxes and furniture and someone's entire family into a 4x4 dorm room is difficult.

4. When you finally see your friends again.

Of course, you're excited to see your college squad because they are really the best. They're who get you through the tests and take you on adventures. They're what make it all worth it.

5. When you're back in your college town and realize you get to eat at your favorite places again.

Oh Gustavos, Picnic and Pueblos, how we've missed thee. Now, the issue is to not spend all our money on coffee and food.

6. When you go to class and the tests and responsibilities start piling up.

All the classes, papers and tests can be stressful, especially when you have literally everything due at once. But we're fine. This is fine.

7. When you have to go buy textbooks.

The most classic college problem: spending every last penny from your summer job on textbooks. The worst is trying to sell them back at the end of the semester, and the store either doesn't take them or gives you a mere $10.

8. When you start to regret buying anything at all over the summer.

Once you've bought your textbooks, dorm stuff and other necessities, the new sundresses and all the iced coffees you bought don't seem as worth it anymore.

9. When you start to think maybe this is all too much.

You may be generally ambitious and focused on your goals, but adulting can still be a lot to handle. Sometimes, you might feel aimless and realize "you don't even have a pla -- "

10. When you finally feel like you're getting your act together.

When you start the semester, the number of your responsibilities doubles overnight. Although it takes a day or two, no better feeling exists than the knowledge that you got yourself back on top of things. No better feeling.

11. When you look at the view from your window and remember why you stick around here.

Your lovely college town will always be one of your favorite places. Seeing the view from your window makes the dorm life all worth it.

The end of summer will always bring bittersweet feelings and a degree of stress, but college still brings opportunities for adventures and working towards your eventual life goals. Like Monica said, "Welcome to the real world. It sucks. You're gonna love it."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
