Before Graduation...
Meghana Kamdar

Four months ago, it was hard for me to imagine that I was starting my senior year of high school. Freshman year feels like it was just yesterday: it was a time when high school seemed like it would last forever and when everyone tried to make as many new friends as they possibly could. These last four months have been filled with bittersweet “lasts.” I attended my last first day of school, my last football game, and my last school dance. Now, I’m in the home stretch.

Here’s the scary part… these past three years seem like they went by in the blink of an eye. How fast are these last four months going to pass me by? All around me, my fellow seniors are counting down the days until graduation. Although I can hardly wait for that final day, I want to cherish these four months.

Before graduation, I want to enjoy my time with my friends. Although I would love to stay in touch with all of my high school friends, the realistic side of me knows that I will most likely grow apart from a few of my friends. Either way, I want to enjoy their company right now, while they are still just a ten minute drive away.

Before graduation, I want to thank my teachers and everyone else who has helped me along my high school journey. I have been in school for twelve long years, and unfortunately, it has not always been rainbows and butterflies. I could not have made it this far without the help of a few people.

Before graduation, I want to stop stressing. I know that application outcomes are out of my control now. I need to relax and focus on myself. I put months of hard work into my grades, essays, and applications during first semester, and now it is finally time to enjoy myself.

Although graduation seems light years away right now, I don’t want to wish away these last few months because this time will fly by ten times faster than I think it will. I still have so much to look forward to. In the mean time, I will thank my teachers, spend time with my friends, and enjoy my last basketball game. Before I know it, I will be walking across that stage at graduation to receive my diploma, the last page of my high school journey.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
