For some people, the morning time is just not for them, but there are many things that can be done to make mornings a little better.
Get a good night's sleep
Sometimes, this is easier said than done, but being well rested is one of the most important elements of good health. If you're only running on, say, 4 hours of sleep, then it's likely you're not going to feel your best in the morning. With that said, prioritize your sleep!
Plan ahead
Schedule what assignments and obligations you have to invest your time in ahead of time so that way you prevent procrastination and the overwhelming feelings that come with not doing things on time. Organize according to what feels most productive to you, but a good tip that I would suggest is to get the harder tasks over with first.
Get up early
There are many great benefits to getting up early, but the greatest is that it offers more time in the day to get things done. If you're willing to be more of a productive morning person, allow yourself to set your alarm clock earlier. By getting up earlier than usual, you are able to dedicate to things that you have previously just not had the time for.
Work out
To have a good, refreshing morning, start your day with some type of movement. Whether it's by walking, running, biking or stretching, being mobile in some way will activate and strengthen your muscles as well as awaken your mind and body.
Dedicate some time to yourself
Allot some time in the morning to focus on you. You can do this through meditating, practicing breathing exercises, listening to music, journaling and doing really anything that makes you feel good and energized. By doing this, you're shifting your focus to how tired you may think you are to something that gives you a boost of power and inspiration.
Have breakfast
Breakfast is an essential part of a morning routine and in general, of good health. While not all people may enjoy having a large meal in the morning, it is important for everyone to provide his or her body with some type of nutrition. By eating breakfast, the functions of the body are stimulated, making it easier for you to think and take on the responsibilities of the day.
Take a cold shower
Even though it might sound insane to bathe in cold water first thing in the morning (because if you're like me, you value a nice, warm shower), it really makes a difference. Experts tell us that cold showers make us feel alert, increasing our oxygen intake, aid in immunity and circulation, relieve stress and depression, and overall, activate our entire body. Let me tell you: cold showers make you feel great and are totally worth that short period of discomfort in the beginning.
Don't look at your phone
Just don't. It defeats the purpose of a productive morning. If your phone is the first thing you recognize in the morning, you're more likely to spend more time on it than you anticipated. Even if you think you won't travel from checking your email to browsing your Instagram to searching something random things on Google to watching Youtube videos, it happens, and you'll spend a significant portion of your morning on the phone.
Go outside
Instead of sitting indoors and potentially yielding to the temptation of using your phone, distract yourself and go outside. Soak in the sun (if it's sunny) or spend some time in another environment.
Motivate yourself
Another good way to start your morning is by giving yourself something to look forward to. By doing this, you'll give yourself a much needed boost of motivation that will help you kick start your day in the right way.
