Last year for Spring Break, I went to Key West and had the most shambly, fun week of my life. I spent way too much money, organized no itinerary, and my phone ended up in Maryland. When my friends and roommates began to ask me what my plans were for Spring Break 2k15, at first thought, I assumed that I'd be going on a cruise or headed to Key West again; but after really thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion that I will be doing absolutely nothing this upcoming Spring Break, and these are my reasons why.
1. You live at the beach.
A lot of us see our Spring Breaks somewhere in a beach town on a beach in order to break free from the Gainesville scenery. Well, my hometown does enough of that for me, and I bet it will be a lot cleaner than any typical SB destination.
2. You Get To Sleep In Your Own bed.
Even though after three days of being home, I'm usually ready to head back to school, but the nights that I do spend in my own bed at home are worth the drive. Sleeping > Drinking.
3. Parental Pampering.
Your parents treat you like royalty when you come home. Every restaurant we go to is one of your favorites, random shopping days are offered, and it seems as if the days revolve around you ... so why wouldn't I want a week of this?
4. You won't be super stressed the Monday school starts.
In not having a stereotypical, crazy SB, you won't be scrambling to get all of your homework done Sunday night, and you won’t feel completely behind when real life returns.
5. You can catch up on your Netflix shows.
I’m super behind on Grey’s and have been wanting to start Gilmore Girls… which I’ll probably shamelessly finish within the week.
6. Spring Weekend.
Just in case I feel like I missed out on anything, at least I can have a reenactment of a crazy Spring Break in a few weekends, which will probably be better than any Spring Break destination I would go to anyway.
So if you're like me and have decided to utilize a free week of no commitments by spending it at home and recharging before the rest of Spring Semester, I feel like you've made a great choice. However, if you do decide to spend it making crazy memories in a beach town near or far, I wish you the best of luck. Just always remember to keep your friends close to you and your phone even closer.
