Beauty And How It Affects People

Society tells women that only certain things are beautiful, but there are so many things that make up beauty.

Beauty And How It Affects People
Dean Neville

There are so many people in this world who think that they are not beautiful, because society puts it in their head that there is only one definition of beauty. Women will look at themselves and see curves and think, "Oh, this is unflattering, I am so fat." But there are so many people, men and women, who would find that beautiful.

I understand being insecure, I'm insecure too, but when somebody calls you beautiful just say thank you, because that means that they really do find you beautiful. Why would somebody say that if they didn't mean it?

Some people like blonde hair, while others may find that they are more attracted to people with more edgy looks, like pink or purple colored hair.

When people say that they have a type, they really do have a type. It's just the different traits that they are attracted to, whether it be blue or brown eyes, blonde or black hair, or even a darker or lighter skin tone. Maybe they are more into girls who play sports or girls who are extremely confident and fashionable.

It saddens me that girls look at themselves and think that they aren't good enough for anybody. There is always going to be somebody out there looking for the traits that you have. Maybe it's hard for you to believe, but some guys do not deserve you, if they don't find the way you look appealing, then why would you want them anyways? Trust me, the right person will come along, it just takes patience.

In the mean time, try to find positivity in your body type, the way that you look, and the way that you are, because the only reason we feel the way that we do about our bodies is because of society. Society has made us feel that way by continuously objectifying the very thin body type and making it seem like it is the "perfect" one. In reality, that may be perfect to some people, but others may not find that attractive.

Sadly, a lot of companies only accept models who have that tall, thin body type, so it makes young girls think that that is the norm.

It's not the norm, there isn't a norm when it comes to body types. There are so many different shapes and sizes that people can be, and in many cases, it's the body type they were born with, not the one they have made for themselves. So why does society feel that it is okay to make women feel that way about their bodies?

There is no one person who is the face of beauty. There are so many different sizes, colors, shapes, and personalities that make up the term beauty. Everybody is beautiful in their own way. Everybody is beautiful to somebody.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
