Many women think that their body image defines who they are. Some women believe this and some do not. Personally, I think you shouldn’t believe it. I know it is easier said than done, but all I have to say is try. Try to see yourself the way other people see you and most importantly, try and love and appreciate yourself the way you would want someone to love and appreciate you.
Curves have always been a good thing. Back in the olden days, curves were considered sexy. I mean back in the 1500s, women would wear corsets and that would make you look smaller on the top half of your body and then make you look bigger and wider on the bottom half of your body. That was what every woman would wear. It became a normality.
Starting in the 19th century, that is when people said the so called “hour-glass figure” was attractive, so my question is if curves were so popular back then, when did that change and why?
The beginning of the 20th century was when people decided that a smaller figure and more muscular shape was most attractive on a woman. The main goal was to have little to no curves at all.
I just don’t understand why now-a-days curves aren’t even considered beautiful, they are just filed under the term “fat”. Fat. I absolutely dislike that word. It is such a particular word that many women take so personally. You could be big chested and have a small waist, but because of how big your chest is you think you are fat. You could be thin everywhere else on your body, but you could have big thighs because that is all muscle, but in your mind you are fat.
So many women have it implanted in their minds that being curvy is a bad thing. In my opinion I would rock those curves.
Onto the other pressing issue, the skinny side of the spectrum. Society also tells us that if you are too skinny then you are sick or anorexic. Skinny girls think they need to gain more weight or more muscle when girls who are considered “over-weight” want the exact opposite. Everyone always wants what they can’t have or what they aren’t. Live your life to the fullest and don’t let people get you down.
No matter what you look like you will never be able to please everyone, it is just a natural thing that I am afraid the world has come to, but in my opinion, who cares. Live your own life. Don’t even think twice about what someone else might be thinking about you because chances are they probably aren’t even thinking bad things.
It doesn’t matter what size you are, short, tall, thin, thick, medium, love your body. Love your curves, love your lack of curves. Just love yourself, and appreciate yourself, and know that you are beautiful no matter what anyone else says.
