We are beautiful. Each in our own ways. It is a sad truth, society holds an unrealistic standard on what a woman should be. To me, the most important thing a woman can be is herself. Work the sweats or rock the stilettoes, do whatever makes you feel happy.
The make-up and the clothes do not define our beauty. It seems so cliché to constantly hear “beauty comes from within”, but there is a holy truth behind that statement. We do not remember each other based off of the blemishes on our face or the mismatched socks we are sporting, but we do remember each other based off of the light that shines through our spirit. By all means, let’s wear whatever we want, let’s wear a lot of makeup, or none at all, but more important than any of these things, let’s wear a smile and a kind heart underneath our chest.
Let’s build each other up and acknowledge the unique beauty we each convey. It is tough being a girl, with the hormones, the boy problems, the struggle to fit in, and the bad hair days, but we are all in this together. It is a beautiful thing to know that God thought the world needed a “me” and a “you”, so he created us and gave us a beautiful life to live and thrive. Lets not focus on the wrong things.
Your Instagram likes do not determine how beautiful you are, your tinder matches say nothing about what really matters, and society’s standards should be disregarded. If no one has told you lately, allow me the honors, you are beautiful. Your chipped nail polish is ravishing, your tears are sparkling beautifully, you are human and you are beautiful. I do not need to see you to know that, because I believe all of God’s creations are beautiful.
We are girls, we are flawed, we are crazy, we are passionate and emotional, but we are beautiful.
