I am just going to take a wild guess and assume that mostly everyone in the Champaign-Urbana area is sick and tired of this cold weather.
If you are lucky enough to have your spring break plans leading you to a warm beach, then the only accessory you need is an awesome swim suit!
If you haven’t quite narrowed down two or three suits to have in your suitcase, no sweat! This article is your quick an easy guide for guys’ and girls’ swimwear that will highlight the best brands and stores to go to, put your mind at ease and make sure your spring break goes swimmingly (pun intended).
Target. You read this right. Target is number one on my list and for a very good reason! This store has great swim suits for guys and girls and the prices are totally reasonable! Usually, they start putting out their swim suits right after the holidays and they always have a wide selection of bright colors, fun prints and different designs. Prices range from $10 to $30 – not the best quality suit, but are good for a last minute buy.
Victoria’s Secret. Let the swim suit addiction begin. This store is definitely targeted to just girls and is not budget friendly. But jeez, their suites are great. All of them are really good quality and prices usually range from $20 to $70 per piece, depending if you want a built in bar component or if it is a tankini. My biggest advice is to choose a suit that feels comfortable and is true to your body type. Their suits run small, so go as conservative with the size as you can. Whatever style suit you chose, Victoria always delivers and is sure to release your inner bombshell.
Lucky Brand. Girls and guys, alike, claim that this is the store to go to if you are serious about your swimwear. Like Victoria’s Secret, these suits can get pricey, but they have a lot of sales with great discounts. I love their suits because they are good quality with lots of different styles and are perfect for trips with swim and beach activities.
J. Crew. Fellas, I did not forget about you! If you want good quality and a preppy look, JCrew is your stop. Just like Lucky Brand, they’re not the cheapest, at around $45 to $70, but the look and quality is worth it. Plus, they have styles that are versatile, great for everything from the Hamptons to Destin.
Old Navy. Now, lets end this list by doing a 180 to good Old Navy. Just like Target, this place has a wide variety with something for everyone. The majority of their swimwear is string bikinis and thin swim trunks, but the price is super cheap, stores are easily accessible and you can shop online.
One final note, please. Just as you wouldn't wear cowboy boots in Minnesota, don't show up in South Beach sporting preppy madras. Use this guide and your own research to look like an in-the-know local, not a clueless tourist. Now that you know all these great places and deals, who can blame you for already having your suitcase packed and ready to go!
