I cannot tell you how many times I have been asked why are you so nice? But my question is, why is being nice not a normal thing? Why are people confused when someone is genuinely kind to them? Why isn't this the norm?
I spent many, many years being bitter and angry over situations I had absolutely no control over. Yet, rather than accepting that nothing I did would have changed the situation, I allowed it to take over my daily thoughts. This ultimately ended up impacting my decisions, my thoughts, and it changed who I was as a whole.
We all have issues that shape us, we either let our obstacles to define who we are by never making it through, or we overcome these hardships. Ultimately, that decision is up to you. No one gets handed the perfect deck of cards but how you play them is totally in your hands.
If you want to see more beauty in this world - make it. If you want to see more smiles, laughs, and love - give it. Sure, it may be naive to believe this could impact the world but it could certainly change your world. Those whom want the same beauty in their life will follow. Those who would like to continue living in their darkness, will not.
The best lesson I ever learned was to let go of my negative energy. Some view this as not caring, but I view this as taking control of the few things I can. My happiness is up to me, and no one else. Everyone does not have the same heart as you, therefore you cannot expect those around you to feel, understand or want the same things as you.
I know some days it feels like the world is against you, but think of the small annoyances in your life as blessings in disguise.
You're stuck in traffic? That's okay - it's just a sign you're not meant to be there yet. Perhaps the universe is saving you from a situation, an accident, someone you don't wish to see or even better, someone you're meant to meet on accident. It could be anything. Being angry and annoyed that you've been stuck in traffic isn't going to affect anyone if you don't allow it to affect yourself. Roll down the window, breathe in the fresh air, just relax. Life's a journey, you get there when you get there.
They ran out of your favorite ice-cream at the grocery store? Don't stress it - it's the universe telling you it's time to try something new. Get a new flavor, try a new snack, or maybe it's a sign you don't need the ice-cream....just kidding that's not a thing.
Your phone died? Good - you've probably been overusing it. This is a sign you need to stop and smell the roses. Embrace nature. Love life. Read a book. Just take a break.
Heartbroken? Oh well - this is the universe giving you the reality check you must've needed. Roll with the punches, don't let it define your future relationships or your self worth. It might hurt for a little while, but you'll make it through. Remember, kill em' with kindness. Also keep in mind, karma's a bitch.
To every hardship we go through, a lesson should be learned. Even the smallest difficulties of our day are happening for a reason. Learn to embrace them, look at the bright side, see the good in all things. The only person you're truly bringing down with your negative attitude is you. You don't want to live a life full of sadness - do you?
Stop and smell the roses.
Take a deep breath.
Fall in love with the little things.
Smile.
The best is yet to come.
