As I lay awake on a late Tuesday night, I came across an extraordinary quote by an unknown soul. You see, it truly stuck out to me based on the "average" society we've inhabited. The quote states "Be the Fruit Loop in a world full of Cheerios." Granted, this ten-word sentence can be interpreted over a hundred different ways.
The way I see it, though, is based on the blunt truth that we grow up with; a mindset to always play it safe, to always maintain the norm. We've started a trend that entails doing something in order for it to get done rather than going above and beyond to complete the task at hand. Almost everyone is afraid to stand out, to be different based on the constant fear of being judged. But what if this 'fear' of being different prevents you from becoming the human being you're destined to be?
I personally think that being normal is boring. I mean, why go through life following the same old yet boring routine when you can spice things up a bit? When someone truly stands out, everyone always seems to notice. I'm not necessarily talking about physical appearance but the way in which you express your personality and attitude towards your choices and your future endeavors.
As Dr. Seuss once said, "Why fit in when you were born to stand out," become the leader of the crowd rather than a bystander. Be the type of person that believes in something that can change the world and make it your life's mission to make it happen, despite what others may think. Become the type of person that others look up to, the person that allows someone else to alter their standards because you've altered yours. Why sideline the opportunities you have a chance to experience because you're afraid to reinvent yourself?
The real world around us can and will be a scary place, but it's important to understand that you shouldn't settle for anything less than extraordinary. Being yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment of them all.
