We humans have flaws,
no one is perfect, no one lives their life mistake free,
like a beautifully resilient seashell found on the shore,
a lighthouse spotlight searching for more.
Marked and labeled with hatred and shame,
once the judges give a verdict no one will remember your name,
imperfections put on a billboard for all spectators to see,
not seeing imperfections as a part of you and me,
and what makes us unique.
A world where everyone fits into a mold
is more dark and dreary,
every person is a unique puzzle piece,
that is my theory.
Every person has different quirks, giggles, talents, hopes and fears,
our flaws and imperfections are what make us different,
mirrors tell lies even after all of these years,
make-up or no make-up, weighing more or less,
who is to decide what amount of make-up or weight is the best.
Love yourself, even the flaws,
You are you and what you think are flaws are perfectly imperfect,
there is more to you than the reflection you saw.
Don't compare yourself to others,
don't try to be better than you can be,
Be the best you, you can be,
because loving yourself,
will set you free.
