Honestly, virginity is just a social construct. I just used this flashy title and list to grab your attention, and now that I have it, I gots some things to say. It doesn't matter who has sex with whom, or when you have it, or even the age at which you decide to start having it. Everyone should be able to have sex with anyone they want to without judgment, so long as it is consensual.
On the topic of consent, the "Me Too" movement has made it crystal clear that the world we currently live in is not safe for women. The sheer number of posts that said #metoo on my newsfeed at first astounded me, but the more I thought about it, the less crazy it seemed.
I live in constant fear every day as a woman, and so do all my friends. I can't walk out my front door without worrying about someone taking advantage of me. Cannot walk home by myself at night, for fear that while on my way, someone might try and assault me. Cannot go out and have fun dancing and drinking with my friends, just in case some man tries to roofie my drink and have sex with my drugged body.
So many of my insanely talented, smart, beautiful, sweet, strong friends have been victims of harassment and assault. This needs to end. This will end.
I am enraged. We are all furious. How dare he. And how dare he...how dare all of you.
We aren't going to stay silent anymore. Our voices will pierce through all this horrific, inexcusable behavior with such a voracity that society will be forced to change its ways.
We are going to win this fucking fight, and we aren't going to back down. #metoo
