As we all know, Batman versus Superman has been the talk of the century. We have seen glimpses of their past and watched, or even read, countless tales of their courageous actions that has shaped our heroes into who they are today. Despite having outstanding abilities, awesome talents, and strikingly good looks, our heroes are stripped down for the world to see. As children, we argue the merits of our favorite heroes and declare these reasons as evidence for why they are better than the other. Now that we see them on the big screen, there is an even bigger wave of expectations. The stakes are high and if these superhero movies are not what they are supposed to be, they may have well never existed.
When it comes to the two main heroes, in a battle of wits, strength and pure durability, what would be enough to take the other down? Take an orphan who has grown to be a cutthroat vigilante fighting crime under the wings of a bat who promises never to kill; then take an alien from an unknown planet with superhuman abilities and a weakness for his earth mother, earthly woman and kryptonite; set these two in one city, blow up a couple buildings, piss off the wrong people and there you go. A fight, actually, set the scene in Gotham-City, and you have found yourself a fight.
Ultimately we reach the big question: Batman or Superman? Who will reign supreme? Most people look at this question and shrug, “Obviously Superman”, however, there are others who vouch solely and whole-heartedly for Batman and say, “Science”. Need I remind you that batman is one-hundred percent human while superman is an all-powerful being who can shoot lasers out of his eyes, has incredible human strength, and can fly? Taking on this man is an enormous job. Get ready to supply yourself with mounds of kryptonite before stepping into Superman’s line of fire.
The face-off between two comic legends sparked a sort of euphoria in fans, and yet, the newest movie has taken a lot of heat. In the most recent movie, Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, the story begins by portraying Batman’s view of Superman. Batman is in the middle of saving lives and as he is doing so, the flying man continues to get in the way of his actions. Then we have a turn and Superman finds the bat vigilante to be a menace to society. Ultimately, there is an overly anticipated battle, sparks fly, there are unexpected twists and Lex Luther appears to be on top of Gotham. With a surprising and quite contradicting end, fans have mixed feelings about this new movie. According to Fandango, this movie has a heaping 7.3 out of 10 stars and the reviews are relatively supportive but suggests that this movie could have been a lot better. Although 7 out of 10 is phenomenal, it is not what most fans thought it would be. In the reviews, this movie was said to be “all over the place and rushed”. Whether true or not it is a majority view, this movie did not reach its peak like everyone thought it would have.
The big question in a director’s mind could be one of two things: Did I satisfy the fans? Have I portrayed the characters as they should be? While these questions are one in the same, if the movie proves itself to be worthy and hardcore, DC fans will love anything.
