6 Reasons Why Working at Bath & Body Works Is The Best Job Ever

My sophomore year of college I decided it was time to get a job again after taking a year off to focus on school. After applying to only one place, Bath & Body Works, I got a call the same day, went in for an interview, and got the job. After only working in food since I was 16, retail was going to be a big change and I was ECSTATIC to not have to deal with working in food anymore. Below I have put together a list of the 6 reasons why working at Bath & Body Works is seriously the best job ever.

1. The co-workers

Giphy

Finding people you work with that you genuinely like can sometimes be hard, but at BBW, all of my coworkers quickly became my good friends. Actually, one of my coworkers is now actually my roommate. Maybe it's just at my store, but the people I work with are awesome.

2. You always smell good

Giphy

When I worked in food, my biggest problem was having to come home and shower in order to avoid smelling like pizza cheese or coffee for the remainder of the night. At Bath & Body Works, I go to work with a full face of makeup and smelling clean and I leave with a full face of makeup smelling even better. AND if we were dead at work that day, I leave with super soft hands because I probably did a scrub or two on my down time.

3. The sales

Giphy

Yes, we do get a discount, but honestly, the sales are always so good that using my discount isn't even necessary. Working at BBW you're always the first to find out about what sale is going to be happening tomorrow. On top of that BBW gives out coupons like candy. AND we have three HUGE sales a year: our semi-annuals, and candle day. Keep an eye out for those.

4. Free stuff

Giphy

Yes, that's right: free stuff. Our company actually treats their employees really great unlike many jobs I've had before. They give us free stuff when new products come out so we can try it out and the relay to the costumer how we liked them. Apparently gratis means free in a different language, who knew.

5. Retail... Not food

Giphy

I have heard a million and one awful things about working retail, but I honestly love it. You leave work still in tact, you don't stink from the food you've been cooking, you aren't sweaty from the hot kitchen, and customers are actually a lot nicer. Dealing with a customer who's coupon won't work over a body spray: it sucks. But dealing with a customer who's coupon won't work for their free morning coffee: that's terrifying.

6. The new products

Giphy

Before working at BBW, I only got new products when my mom would buy them for me for Christmas. Honestly I never even went into the store. Now that I work there, I can experience and enjoy the plethora of products we sell, like face masks, bath and bomb, and the candles I love so much.

Even though working at Bath & Body Works has given me a serious shopping problem and the majority of my paycheck goes back into products I buy at work, I wouldn't change my job for the world.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
